I think everything should be done fast. Except for one thing. And I told her that it's not my fault. It just feels so good.

Scott - How bout you give more of us the ability to delete these spam threads I think the big cheese is working on a cure. I delete at least one every morning, and most days like today 4-5-6.

solution...
phpBB. They use that image verification code where you have to type in the letters and numbers you see on the screen...this keeps most all spam off.

phpBB is also more easily hacked. That's why the switch to SMF.
Actually, there is supposed to be a mod coming out to add the image verification. Soon as it hits...I'l add it in.
Until then, be patient and just delete the scum buggers.

Actually, there is a secondary approach to this until the mod comes out.
Set the forum to where the Admin has to approve any registrants before they can activate the account. I have my personal forum for family set this way and have had no problems with spammers.
Up to Scott on that one though as it would prevent most people from even viewing the forum at all.

Update: Added the CAPTCHA mod that requires a new registrant to enter the displayed code. Heh, turns out it was just updated this month for bugs. Coupled with the Admin approval, this ought to put a damper in the spammers plans.

phpBB is also more easily hacked. Ok, so I just had a phpBB set up. What risk do I have and how do I mitigate it?
