I took the kids with me to go visit my mom in AZ. She had a few projects that she needed help with while I was out there. My oldest wanted to shooting. Looks like I replaced the right sensor. I didnt get any CELs to or from AZ. However I noticed my replaced fuel filter cap still leaks. I decided to replace it with a billet one. I was surprised at how much shipping is for just that little cap. 30 bucks is crazy. That should show up after Christmas.
My mom bought replacement batteries for her gate. One of the battery terminals welded itself to the connector. She didnt have a replacement slip connector and the parts store in town didnt have it in stock. 30 min trip to Walmart they had what I needed. I just cut the end off at the slip connector and just crimped a new one in place. At night the gate would barely open and wouldn't close because of the lack of power. All is good to go now.
Last night out there I made Rib eyes.

@kbeefy I never got into aviation. My wifes side of the family was all into it. Her dad was a flight medic for 20 yrs. Her uncle flew and he mom worked for air methods. There was one point in my career I almost had to fly in an Astar with patient because the ship was BLS but we ended up taking them via ground. The ship she used to work on stays pretty busy. It's nice they finally upgraded to a new ship. The one they were using I believe was from Vietnam era. At least the shell was.

Some of the fire ships I worked on (212's) were from the 70's and had almost 20,000 hours on them.

The last Med ships I worked on were 412's born in 2009. Aside from the electronics and 2 extra blades, there weren't many other differences in them.

The last 2 seasons I've been working fires with an Astar.

My shop has been a mess for quite some time. Monday my FIL an I put some Wayfair night stands together. What a PIA. I think we both took them part to fix our mistakes 3-4 times. The directions weren't very helpful. I still need about another hour to get to some other areas but I have a work bench once again. After that I rewarded myself with a San Cristobal. I'll probably have a stick today as well. I made a fire in the fireplace for the family.
My renewed Medic license showed up in the mail today. Im very thankful that I was able to get it back. I had let it lapse unintentionally. The process to get it back took me 60 CEs and a few hundred dollars. Im not planning on working again as a medic but it's nice to have. I don't plan on letting it lapse again.

Merry Christmas bro! Keep those CEUs up so you dont lose that license. Thats the biggest perk of my new job, as a sponsor for EMS events sponsors always get CE stamps without having to sit through the classes and learn about conflict mitigation or car seat installation for the millionth time.

@Xti04 I never had this issue when I still worked in the field. Our dept had everyone registered into a program that tracked CE and your licenses you had to keep current. It was good that it reminded you when you needed to re cert but the dept knew if you expired. They implemented a policy that you would get two days off without pay if you worked a shift without current licenses. When I first started it wasn't that big of a deal they didnt enforce this until it was very prevalent.
I used to get on a bunch of roasters like that as well. Out here they're pretty ******** about putting someone on a class that didnt attend the whole class. People have lost licenses and jobs over it. You're living the good ol days.

Two post lift showed up today finally! The delivery driver was able to put it on my apron to my shop. His forklift was too tall and wouldn't fit inside my shop. I was in a hurry to get it inside the shop. Theres a huge storm coming into socal on Wednesday. My original plan was to put both ends on furniture dollys, lifting one end at a time with my cherry picker. The wife brought up a good point. It's heavy af and if you damage it that's not good, so just go rent a forklift. Ok. Ran down to a local equipment rental place. I had the damn thing back under an hour. Still charged me 100. I never operated a forklift but the wife was impressed. She took a video of me putting in side my shop. I'll see if I can get her to send it and ill up load it. It barely fit through the door. I had maybe a inch on both sides.
Sadly this thing is gonna have to sit for a bit. I have to figure out what im going to do with my concrete. After reading the instructions its says it requires 20" of 3000 psi concrete. Im not sure how wide the foot print needs to be. Most likely im going to hire a contractor to do this. I might do the demo work we'll see. I just think 20" is a bit over kill for a 12k lift. I was thinking it was going to only require 6". If that were the case Id do it myself.

Congrats on the new lift, but damn, 20 inches is crazy. I have never heard of a lift manufacturer requiring more than 6" and 4" of 4k PSI seems to be the norm. I replaced my 10k pound 2-post with a new Bendpak 12APX that has much larger base plates and in their literature they state 4-6 inch thick 3k PSI concrete is required with anchors being 6" from any seams or cracks. That's really the only requirements I could see. Mine is over 6 inches thick throughout the shop and probably closer to 8 inches where my lift is installed because I dug it out slightly before the concrete arrived for pouring. I would get clarification because 20 inches just seems ridiculous.

Thanks, That's what I was thinking. I haven't heard of anyone installing a lift and getting 20" of concrete. Im going to reach out to the manufacturer and confirm. What yours requires I think im probably going to model something like that. 20" is a bit of over kill. Thanks for the reply Mike

A little additional info for my lift. I agree 20" is over kill im still pondering wtf im going to do. Also what doesn't make a lot of sense is that the anchors that hold the posts in place is only 6". Looking at the footprint it needs to be 30x30x20. I have a concrete buddy that im going to call next week. See what he thinks. Also I reached out to the manufacturer and haven't heard. Theres a few questions and answer on the lift website. Most of the questions are asking how deep does the concrete need to be? 20" seems a little much.

While I was in AZ my TPS was telling me I had a low tire. Funny I checked all tires and they were all the same right around 60psi. Yesterday while I truck was in the shop I added 5 psi to each tire. Didn't change until I went away the CEL went off.

Yesterday morning I took a trip to a buddy's place about 30mins away. His family is really going through some rough times. They reached out to my wife and asked if I had time to take a look at their vehicles. They're hardly home and his wife isn't working much right now.
First vehicle is a 2016 F150 echoboost with a CEL P0301 cylinder misfire #1. Ive never worked on a F150. My friend doesn't know much about his truck either. He told me he went to start it and it ran like **** and he shut it off. In the process of trying to pull the spark plug I broke a ******* vacuum line. I tried to move it out of the way of the 10mm bolt. Once I got the bolt out I pulled and pulled and the boot wouldn't come off.... I didnt want to break it so I told him I'll do a little bit more research. He thought that might have been an injector. I was pretty sure it was a spark plug cause theres no where else they could put them without pulling the motor to get to plugs. After doing some googling it looks like it could be the wiring or the boot or the plug. Nothing major. He was afraid his motor was toast. Oil would say other wise.
Next vehicle is a 2025 Ram 2500 Cummings 6.7 with a P0299 turbo charger under boost condition. That sounds like a map sensor to me. I told him that next time im out I'll pull the map sensor and check it. It could be the EGR valve but its only got 10k so Im willing to bet that's not it. IF it's anything major it's under warranty. The sensor should only be 40ish bucks. I'll probably head out there next week. We got a lot of rain headed here. Gonna hunker down. I'll probably get to some projects in the shop while its **** weather.

I started on body mounts for my F250. My goal was to get one side finished today. I barely got half of them done on one side. Since I don't have my lift set up yet Im using a combination of floor jacks and bottle jacks to make the space needed to get them in and out. The first one closest to the rear went easy. The next one under passenger seat was a little bit more difficult. The one under the passenger floor board has stoped me dead in the water at the moment. I didnt think I was able to make the space to get the old mount out let alone get the new one in. My floor jack slipped on me a few times which really got my attention. To swap them out I had the front tire off the ground. Here's the crappy part. I have the new bolt threaded and now I can't get it to tighten. It's super tight and I don't want to break the bolt off. When I tighten it the damn thing just snaps. Next I pulled up the carpet on the floor board to expose the cage nut. With a 22mm breaker bar and me tightening it from the bottom Im not making any progress. I sprayed some PB blaster to see if that will help me get it tight.
I'll called it a day, I was getting too irritated. Tomorrow I'll see if I can get it to tighten. I spray some more pb blaster and let it sit. If that doesn't work I'll try some heat on the cage nut.
anyone have any experience with these? I think ford could have came up with a better design but theres nothing I can do about that.

I made a little progress on the F250. I got a total of five mounts done when I decided to call it a day and watch football. I don't think I'll be working on them today either. Im off for a few weeks so I have plenty of time and plenty of other projects to do. I'll probably pick back up next weekend. The body mount on the passenger side under the front floor board I could get it to tighten or extract the bolt. I have no idea wtf. It's just a little loose on the bottom. What im probably going to do is cut the head of the bolt and had a washer and a nut and tighten from that end. At this point it's not going anywhere. The only problem is when the next owner decides to do body mounts they're going to have to cut that one out. I might do that at some point but not right now. I finished up the front mounts by the radiator. Those went the easiest so far. My buddy who's got the same truck as me said those ones gave him the hardest time. He told me he had to cut them out. I got to the drivers side body mount. I tried to loosen the bolt and my ratchet slipped. My arm paid for it. That's when I decided that it's probably a good point to take a break. Ill pick back up next weekend on this project.

You doing this kinda makes me wonder how the body mounts are on my 99 F250. Im not real interested in doing them, but now I feel the need to check them out.

@Xti04 I hope 99 ford made better mounts. The ones im pulling off appear to be made out of donuts. I have no idea wtf ford was thinking when they installed those. they are horrible. I think next time I do this It will be a little easier having my two post installed. I took my truck on a short little ride up to the store and back. I can tell a difference just on that one side. I probably finish next weekend. I still have to replace my fuel filter cap this week. I can see that I still have a small leak. Hope you had good holidays.

This is all very interesting since I have the cab on the Smashed Truck™️ gutted, and next step is start removing it in chunks. The bed bolts came right out with my little Makita no problem, but then it's an OR/CA truck.

Ive been leaving a small snail trail of fuel everywhere I go.... at least I wont get lost. It was time to replace the plastic cap with the metal or billet cap. The only thing I wasn't stoked on was the drain plug. It's a 7/16 plug, I would have preferred a petcock. Im sure I could add something but im splitting hairs. The yellow knob is the petcock on the plastic *************. It was maxed out tight and it still dripped fuel. Only thing I added on the billet cap was the fuel filter sensor on the bottom. I didnt have a metric wrench large enough to remove and tighten on the billet cap but a S&K 1 1/16th wrench did the trick. The bottom socket size for the cap is still a 1 1/4" socket. I primed the system and what do you know... no more f ing leaks. Money well spent. Tomorrow I'll hopefully finish up the body mounts.

Once I finished up the Filter cap I started the truck. It ran and there were no leaks. But I didnt follow the right procedure to prime the fuel system. The next morning my truck wouldn't start. So I primed it half *** at best. I was just about to leave the house to open up some buildings at work when the truck went into low power mode and threw a P0087 low fuel pressure. When I got back I primed the fuel system like normal. Truck ran fine, took it for a rip and the damn thing shut down on me 3 times. Apparently the fuel filter cap wasn't tight enough and it was sucking air. I had the damn thing pretty tight. After It was tighten I primed the sys and it ran like a champ.

I finally finished up body mounts. The drivers side went a lot easier than the passenger. It only took me about an hour to do the last 3. Im happy that's done. Im not looking forward to doing that anytime soon. I think the real pisser is you can't use an impact wrench to buzz the bolts out. Not to mention the bolts are like 6 inches. That's a done deal. I hope these body mounts last for a while.

My buddy came by the shop this morning. He's been having CEL on his durmax. It's a P0677 cylinder 7 glow plug. A few weeks ago we cleared the code, he was worried that if he drove it that it was going to damage the motor. I told him it's not a big deal. It finally came back so be picked up an ACdelco replacement. I cautioned him that theres a possibility that the tip on the glow plug could break off and stay in the motor. Theres two options, leave it in deal with the CEL on all the time or pull the head and drill it out. Im not a duramax guy but I told him that I haven't heard of that happening a whole lot. The local shop offered $1000 to replace all 8... None of the other ones are bad so I said let's just replace the one and go from there. If he wants to replace all of them we can do it but I don't think it's needed. The hardest part was taking the fender well off. The damn thing has 15 trex screws. I was surprised at how easy they are to get to. Duramax did it right. The old one came out in one piece. Another perfect job. My 15 yr could have done this though.

Finally replaced our pool vac. It only last about 6 months. It was great until it wasn't. I took it back to Home Depot and they gave me my money back. We go the upgraded version that came with a charging station. The last one you had to plug it in. There was a rubber flap that went over the connector but eventually it wouldn't keep water out. One of my bosses at work has this same model. He's had it over a year with no issues. Im glad to finally have the cordless pool vac. No one hoses in the pool.

We pulled the trigger with star link. Wife wanted it put somewhere we can't see it. I was going to Hang it on the side of the house and she wasn't going for that so I installed it where my DirectTV dish was mounted. The old mount was still on the roof. I was hopeful that I could use the same mount but the pole that starlink dish connects to is smaller. I probably could have modified it but I didnt feel like wasting the time. The Instal was pretty simple. It sits in a valley hidden by my patio cover. I was hoping to get faster speed. We might upgrade to the faster speed at the moment we have the standard. Im still in the process of installing a mesh system with TPlink. I have 4 inside the house and im going to put two on the outside.

Finished up the install with starlink and my mesh system. The TP-link decos work pretty good. I have 4 installed at the moment and one that I haven't installed. I don't think I even need it. I was surprised how well my cameras work with starlink. We did have to up our speed to residential max. Kids aren't complaining about the internet. Wife is pretty happy. She wants happy about where I mounted the router. She wanted me to keep it in the guest room night stand... Now it's tucked in the corner next to the night stand and you can't really see it. I have a few things to add to my starlink wifi. The fridge, printer and pool equipment are next. After that we ll cancel spectrum.

I started digging my 16"X48" hole for my new flag pole. My flag/pole got destroyed in the last wing event we had. I purchased a replacement to hang on the side of the house. It came from Amazon with missing parts, amazon got the return. This was the 3rd one I've gone through in the past 5 years. I figured it was time to just buy a flag pole like I've always wanted. The wife kept saying she was going to get my a commercial grade flag pole but I got tired of waiting. I picked one up off amazon for 150 bucks. If it fails oh well. The thing had good reviews. If I do end up getting it replaced with a beefier one I'll just move this one to the back of the property.
The area Im putting my flag pole is a little planter bed that sits above our house. I think you'll be able to see my flag driving down my street. So far ive gotten 36". I just need another foot an I'll be good to go. I could have rented an auger but I didnt have the time between work and the rental place being open. I got off work yesterday a little early and started the dig. I should finish it up today.

I was able to get deeper than 3ft but it was just under 4 ft. The hole wasn't wide enough to where I could pull more dirt out. I was just at 45". The auger attachment I had for my drill helped out a bunch. Without that It would have taken me another day. I bought way too much concrete. The calculator I used to determine how much mud I needed said up to 12 bags (60lb). I thought that was excessive. I only went through 5. I dumped the dirt near a planter bed Im going to add too. Added gravel to the bottom of the hole. Once I had the mud I plunged the pipe in the mud and made sure it was level. Gonna give a few days then I'll add my pole.

I finished the flag pole project. For 150 bucks you get what you pay for. The pole doesn't seem that rigid, Im skeptical of how well this will fare with high winds. The light its pretty bright at night. I saw on a YouTube video that there were pre drilled holes on the sections and you could use self tappers to keep them together. Mine had no holes but I might add some later. Im on the fence if Id recommend this product. I guess we ll see how long this lasts. It doesn't seem to make too much noise but it does move a bit. My youngest son noticed it yesterday walking home. We can see it from the top of our street. Finally got my stars and bars up.

This week Ive been off on spring break. Ive been able to catch up around the house. We changed out my youngest son's bedroom furniture. We installed a new bed and mattress. The left overs have been on the side of the house for a week. I was able to make a dump run. Borrowed my buddies dump trailer. Besides the old furniture and mattress I had a lot of chain link and old post that sat on the side of my shop for a year. It was time to get rid of all the stuff. All that cost 46 in dump fees. The crappy part was going 3 different places on the landfill to dump. Mattress went to a different location, then the metal.
While I was watered I noticed my avocado tree is starting to produce. I had purchased another tree to see if it would pollinate. The thing has been blooming for a few weeks. Then I noticed small avocados. Wifes pretty excited.

@Sifan I might have to do the same. At this point im not really happy with the quality but that's what you get for $150. The black paint is starting to come off from the halyard. Im assuming at some point the thing is gonna taco.

Got a quote for my Concrete guy to come and cut out a section of my concrete. He's gonna do all the demo and pour a deeper pad 10x16. He was suppose to start yesterday but I didnt hear from him. Hopefully in the next coming weeks. I wrapped some stuff I don't want to get dust on.

Happy Easter Sunday, Family an I went out of town this week. We stayed 5 days at an AirBNB in La Jolla. Nice view of the once from our balcony. Prior to leaving I Tried to make an auto water device. It worked pretty well until it didnt. I had them in a pattern to cover the whole garden but the day we left they didnt seem to reset and would just stay in on location. Over the summer Im going to install some drip line. While we were in SD we met up with my youngest son's best friend at the Zoo. His dad has been a good friend of mine for a decade. He's a Chippy, we hadn't talked in a while. I was surprised he's looking at retiring this coming December. He's been a Stg for a couple of years and finally transferred closer to home. He wants to hang it up after 28yrs.
-Side bar, the last month of working on the floor for my dept, we finally ran a call together. Wife was so pissed that we didnt get a photo. It was the end of a pursuit s bag TC'ed into a planter In front of a widerise. Lots of cops and FF. Dude wasn't hurt he flipped the cops off while on the gurney going to the hospital.
I thought it was pretty neat that the construction workers next to use hid their **** house. The neighborhood was pretty expensive. One of the days we had low tide I took my youngest to the tide pools. Our last day I took my oldest to the navy seal museum. It was pretty cool. I met a couple of old UDT guys. We talked to them for a bit. Both deployed to Vietnam. One of the guys asked if I was a team guy. I laughed, No just a retired / disabled water squad driver.

I have some garage stuff this week. Need to have my concrete guy come out and start the job. I have 30 ft of privacy fence going up hopefully soon in the front. Time to change the oil in my power stroke, im gonna do that before my boss ***** wife heads out of town. While we were on vacation she finally can take the intern title off her job. Now she's a full fledged dean. Im so proud of her she's really great at what she does. Been in the position for over two yrs.

The closing of the work week. It was a pretty busy week for me. We're starting testing soon only about a month left till im off for the summer. My concrete guy called me up and asked if he could come out Sat morning and start on the job. I said sure you can. They started at 7am. Im sure my neighbors aren't happy about the noise. The GC said he'll finish today. Im looking forward to my time off to getting the 12k installed.

My concrete guy finished up the trench cut for my two post. They showed up at 7 and finished by 2pm. Im glad I was home while they poured. They tried to leave the depth around the footings 4 inches. I told them I wanted 10. I had to explain myself a few times. Then I finally told them If I wanted it left at 4 inches I would have just cut posts in the concrete myself instead of cutting a 6 x 16 trench. It didnt take them long. They had a mini ex. The finish is pretty good now I just have to wait a month before I can install. I think this week Im going to clean up the shop. It made a freaking mess. I covered up my tool box, refrigerator, shelf and my mig but theres dust everywhere. I have about a month of work left until Im off for the summer. I'll probably get to install sometime in may.

Early this week when I would leave to work at O dark thirty my gate wouldn't open. I thought it might be the sensors getting of track. Every time I pushed the open button the opener would chirp twice. Once the sun came out the gate would work fine. I figured the battery needed to be replaced. First I purchased the wrong one... I went through my amazon orders and thought it was the right one but it was nut and bolt connection not slip connector. Finally got the right one replaced it now it's working great. It had been over 5 yrs since ive replaced it.

This month is going to be pretty busy for me. Wife an I have a lot of traveling which is nice but I don't think ill get time to install my lift this month. Only two more weeks of the academy left. Wife an I are headed to Vegas, rancho mirage and New Orleans. After may that will be it for me for traveling. Wife has a lot of traveling to do. A bunch of sac trips and then a week in Florida. I was hoping to go with her but I think it's best that I stay home with the kids.

Got back from vegas yesterday. We spent most of the day in the car. Had to go pick up my kids in Utah then drive all the way back to so cal. We had a great trip. We stayed at the Paris, we probably wont be staying there again. They put us in a tower connected to the horseshoe. IT was damn near a 1/2 mile to get back into the Paris. Nice little bonus is they gave us two queen beds... instead of one king. The No doubt concert was awesome at the sphere. Next time we're gonna stay at the Venetian, they have a breeze way that connects to the sphere. Visited my wife's favorite artists shop, Vladimir Kush. She has one of his originals in her office.
When we got home my fence guys installed the6' privacy fence... perfect timing my tweaker neighbors erected a weed house... I don't think it's gonna last long, neither of them are carpenters and they built it out of popsicle sticks. I started unboxing my lift. I was thinking about installing it this weekend but Im gonna have to rent a forklift and I didnt have the drill bits for the post. The anchor bolts are 11/16th so I ordered some bits, adhesive anchor glue, a hammer drill and some lift straps. I probably wont get to it for another month...We'll see. The directions aren't very detailed, thankfully it's not rocket surgery.

Nice choice on the smoke.
