Those remind me of the old 40 pc cheap socket sets you could buy at Kmart etc

All they need is a stamped metal clamshell case instead of plastic, and Made in Japan :)

Pete
One of my uncles had me buy a set of those to loan to the neighbors that I didn't trust with "real" tools.

Sometimes they came back broken, other times they never came back.

But they were so cheap, I didn't care.

It's a good deal for you team yellow, CHEAP, sons of *****. :ROFLMAO:
Thanks again. I ended up going back to grab a pair for myself. Almost waited too long. Had to drive to Hyde Park (Rough feeling part of L.A.) where they said they had 3 left. I only saw 2 there & bought them for $65 each.

I find the one stare reviews to be pretty common amount HD reviews and personally wouldn’t worry about them. The return and warranty mitigate problems if there are any.

This is what I'm upgrading from:

IMG_20260215_224125481.jpg

Still haven't found the drill that fit, though I have developed a keen tolerance of crooked holes.
I had a similar one to the picture below. It took a vintage black and decker with a collar on the front and a hole in the back. Your looks like it would work with way more different types of drills.

You'd think so but the size of it (pretty small) coupled with the odd shapes where the drill mounts (weird curve on the top piece, side, square collar) means nothing really fits. Even having something close doesn't work as your bit ends up out of parallel with the direction of travel. I do have parts of various old black and decker drills, and I figure one of them will be the winner, but haven't cobbled them together into anything useful yet.

I'll keep at it though. Maybe do a compare-and-contrast review vs the ridgid when I get it all together.

If all else fails I'll adapt it to do heat set inserts or something.

If I’m being honest, I wouldn’t waste another minute on it. They‘re kinda cool as a vintage tool, but not very useful as a real drill press. I guess it’s somewhat portable, but just not worth the effort.

$264.50 RIDGID 15 in. 12-Speed Drill Press with LED

This seems like a price we're not going to see again. Anyone have a reason to not buy this?

I'd check out craigslist, facebook market place, government auctions, etc. You can get much better drill presses than that Ridgid. I bought this one from govdeals and you can still find them today. Came from a school, no arc of shame. It'll out live me :ROFLMAO:

Man it is super weird what gets removed for being "off topic" here and what doesn't. Side conversation, like many others here, was done and over with. What was the point of removing one post from it?

Inconsistent moderation feels ******. When rules only apply to particular people or posts it stinks of selective enforcement. Do better.

I think I'm done posting deals here. Take care y'all.

I got a banned for an innocent comment and quickly realized that you don't have to sign in or even be a member to see posts, counterintuitive for actually punishing someone. I could still see deals, just couldn't post any, and being butthurt made me not even want to post deals any longer. Once things get posted here, they seem to quickly disappear, and I doubt it's the GJ members who are able to take advantage.

Some very nice extension cords I just picked up yesterday for 7.50. I am throwing many of my other cords away and just replacing them, that's how nice they are ;)
