Anyone else here building these? It's a big time commitment, but incredibly rewarding. This one is getting dropped off tonight and is my first that I'm handing off directly to a family.

How did you find the family?
And that was yesterday … how did it go?

It's all through the organization/platform

Families apply, makers get to select who they want and then we produce the chair. Most dropoffs are via an intermediary or anonymous (left at a library, for example), but in this case, the family asked if we could skip going through their therapist to save time, which helped me a ton. It was a 90 min drive, and finding time to get to their therapist during working hours was going to be difficult with my work and travel schedule.

They were super happy and very grateful. The girl didn't hesitate at all and loved the mini wheelchairs I printed for her to play with.

They are also likely candidates for an adaptive tricycle through another charity I work with, so 2 birds with one stone 🙂

My daughter is printing #7 now, which is going to a family in MD. It's a 2hr drive, but they've been waiting for 3 months, so I figured they should get my next one over waiting for a closer application. After that, I have one last kit on hand, which will end up with one of two applicants out near Roanoke.
