I bought these Crescent 6 in one wrenches but have mixed feelings about them. The smaller one is a winner but the larger one weighs a ton for its size.

When you are carrying in all your tools weight is a major concern. I haven't used them yet but the smaller size will makes its way into my bag but think I'll just carry a 9/16" wrench versus the larger wrench.

The fact these will do square heads on beam clamps is a major plus and the smaller one should cover all beam clamps I would ever deal with.

1/2" Proto Precision 90 flex head ratchet

DSC_0090.jpg

I have the same proto ratchet. It is super for car suspension work: beefy/stiff with a long handle, flex is not floppy and positions as you want, good tooth count, surprisingly low back drag, well finished, comfortable, easy to keep clean, and USA made. The only minus to me is that I generally prefer quick release ratchets to be able to pull off sockets easily. But in this case, it makes sense for a long ratchet to not be quick release for strength.

Something new for the road kit:

$22, adjustable emissivity, nice display that I can read in full sun. If I'm going to take a 30+ year old rig out and beat the hell out of it on rough canyon and mountain roads, there are plenty of temps I want to be able to monitor. Brakes, bearings, heads, etc, etc.

This will go in the driver's door map pocket.

Now to look up some common metal emissivity #s.... I'll have to make up a Q&D dope card for it.

"Etekcity" sounds like how a Chinese native would pronounce "electricity".

Don’t farm much do you?🤔
You know, I was just thinking about how I’ve used my plier wrenches over the year and I’m kinda surprised how little I’ve used them over an adjustable wrench. Outside of some plumbing and yard work, I’ve really only used them to bend stuff. My adjustable wrenches see way more work.

Half-inch ratchets purchased over the last several months. From left to right, arranged in increasing back drag according to my subjective reckoning.

Don't give up on the Wurth Zebra ratchet; I've found that these get much better with time and the backdrag improves substantially with use.

Same goes for all these Zebra ratchets:

Tired of using inferior products. Love the ability to replace parts.

Some real big-boy tools!

I've been using my pair of Felco #7 hand shears since the mid-eighties. I've replaced the blade a couple of times and the hook once. I resharpen them regularly--being able to remove the blade is a big help--and eventually they just get worn down.

Good to hear that it should loosen up with use. As is, it's not bad, just more than the two on the extreme left. The Williams, however, is in a class by itself. (Perhaps, that should be a log scale I have them on.) Maybe it will improve with use, too. This is the new, out-of -the-box assessment.
