My order arrived earlier this week! Many thanks for the Channellock swag, wore the shirt today!

Backstory on the box art. I had an odd dream just before HJE day where I came out of a building in a war zone and saw dozens of a non-existent flying creature. It had the body of a pterodactyl with the head of a zebra... 😳

What better place to request this abomination than the talented artists of HJE!

Behold....... The ZEBRADACTYL 😂

IMG_1682.jpegIMG_1681.jpegOrder finally arrived
Hat
T-Shirt
Hard Hat Stickers
Sola carpenters pencil and extra leads
Regular carpenters pencils
Welder and Twin Grip pliers
Norseman left handed drill bits and extractors
Lang punches, Those are nice
Wera ratcheting drivers, the one on the left is my bingo ball winnings
Various wire brushes
Steve’s 2nd book
Vault Keys, these will be handy at work.
Diamalloy crescent, didn’t order that, must have been thrown in by HJE. Thanks
Cudeman Machete. Very Nice and sharp.
That’s the 125lb menace guarding the haul. Couldn’t let him get the package because the box art wouldn’t survive it.
Requested Steve in Manheim Gardens as a box art memorial. His jacket, scruffy face and hair were captured perfectly in true box art form.
Thanks Jori and the HJE crew

I used them today.

Nice tight grip on bolt head.

Handles are too small but when the black grip piece is installed it was a comfortable grip and easy to use.

The vinyl pouch is less than desirable. Nothing holds the black grip in so it freely falls out. The pouch has zero memory or hasp to hold the nut drivers in so they freely fall out as well. I can see the pouch being deep sixed once an alternate is found.
ooohhh i missed the big handle! set makes a LOT more sense now!

Finally got my order. Big wait on my Wright tools order.
IMG_2915.JPEG
A bunch of punches from Wilde, a bunch of the Lutz Skroo-zon file handles, Chef's knife, brass bell, that Vessel wide screwdriver that everyone else wanted also, one of the Piginor garden tools, and finally a set of Wright Metric 3/4" drive sockets to finish out my USA made set. There's some other stuff in there too, but I am happy to have it all. Great job on the box art - a yellow cat going for some cat food.

A little late to post but here’s my 2025 Harry J Epstein Day Haul

T-shirt not shown

Lake Guntersville box art

Went heavy on Wilde. Punches, pliers and wrenches. Also decided to splurge on a set of 1/2 inch drive Wright impact sockets. Also got some Wright wrenches to try out.

What's that Felo nutdriver and why can't I find it on the website? I do see a nutdriver blade in 10mm...

What's that Felo nutdriver and why can't I find it on the website? I do see a nutdriver blade in 10mm...

Those are interesting questions. Not entirely sure how to answer since at least one question seems a little bit philosophical in nature. But I’m glad you asked none the less.

Perhaps we should expand the question. Not only what is it, but why is it here? We could go so far as to ask why it chose to be a 10 mm.

It’s definitely a Felo 10 mm nut driver. And it says it’s from Germany based on the markings. And it was definitely in the box with a Guntersville Lake scene painted on it. That’s all I can say for sure.

As to why you can’t find it on the HJE website. I don’t know. I don’t even know why I can’t find it on their website. I looked after your reply and I can’t find it either. I do know I often see what other people order and think how did I miss that on the website. Then I go look and there it is if I search another way or for that specific item. But so far that doesn’t seem to be the case here. This Felo 10 mm nut driver is no where to be found on the HjE website.

So it gets a bit interesting and perplexing from here. Perhaps it is a mystery? Or a conundrum?

I do remember looking thru what Felo items they had listed at the time and thinking about ordering something. I had a 2 week work trip and asked HJE to hold the shipment which they graciously obliged. I got back, opened the box and saw this 10 mm Felo nut driver and thought to myself… why did I order this? I have ordered some Felo stuff from KC Tools in the past. I really like what I’ve gotten in the past. So I just assumed I must have decided to get something because Felo was part of the HJE day. And I assumed I got 10 mm because it’s a common size. I opened the package and the stuff sat on the table for a couple of weeks before I moved to the garage and posted last night. So I just assumed I ordered this until you asked this philosophical question “what is this Felo nutdriver?”.

So, I went and found the packing list. I’m getting older and my eyesight isn’t what it used to be. But after looking thru the packing list several times now I have decided I don’t see this 10 mm Felo nut driver on the packing list either. Well the mystery just gets deeper now. Then after about the 3rd time thru the packing list I noticed the note I left when I placed my order. I asked for the box art. And I guess I must have qualified for a koozie. Because I left them a note I didn’t need a koozie. Which is kind of funny because I really didn’t need anything I ordered if we get right down to it. I then went on to tell them could keep it or give it to someone else. So, perhaps they traded the koozie for this mystery 10 mm Felo nut driver? Maybe? I don’t know. Still kind of a mystery.

So as I’m going thru the packing list I noticed and remembered I paid $5 for a mystery box. So then I’m like okay where is this mystery box. I didn’t get a box inside a box. And the 3 Toyo tool boxes were empty. So what gives here.

Then it dawned on me that this 10 mm Felo nut driver is the mystery but without an actual box. Could this be the answer to the philosophical question of what is it and why is it here? That it is a mystery. I guess I just don’t know.

What I do know is that I appreciate you asking. I’m not sure I would have thought about it otherwise. And I appreciate everyone posting and sharing their HJE Day orders along with their box art. It was a great HJE Day that’s still giving out some fun here. I spent too much money. I won a Wilde punch set in a crazy fun shoot em up watermelon raffle. Got some cool box art. And I think I got a mystery 10 mm Felo nut driver, but it’s still kind of a mystery. Oh yeah, no koozies were wasted on me either!

Sorry for the long winded rambling response. I couldn’t help it.

Thanks! I know I pored over all the Felo and all of the "new items" last month, hoping/hoping not to find something fantastic but expensive I just had to get. Wound up getting the $3.50 tack puller, as my cheapest German tool ever.

(Last night in Wal-Mart I saw the HyperTough Chinese equivalent for a little more and felt very superior.)

Sometimes things don't show up on search because if a typo. Maybe it's listed as a Febo. Later, with my bigger device I'll search for nutdrivers and nut driver, in case I didn't do that last night.

Also, you didn't spend too much, all of that Wilde is such a good value!

We had a lot of 1's and 2's for the FELO so they were the mostly the mystery items and they probably will be for the foreseeable future. I'm happy a 10mm nutdriver could send you on a journey of mysterious revelation.

I’m exhausted! Time to take a nap and then place my order (I completely missed the boat this year but could use some retail therapy).

@Jehannum would be proud of you for that one.

His handle says "Jehannum" but his pic says "Throat warbler mangrove"!

Full disclosure: I was also a weird kid. In 8th grade art class for our paper mache project, I built a copy of that ridiculous nose over a coathanger wire frame. Rubber band attachment to head, not the greatest.

What a fantastic thread to read through. I’m local and also follow them online via IG, think I’m probably due for a visit!
As someone who is local, I have gone in quite a few times, until I got smarter, and realized that it is cheaper for me to put in an order, online, and have it shipped to me, then to go in and look (always surprises). Added bonus, box art.

I didn’t get a group shot this year. Not everything was in the same order. The wrinkles in the shirt are solely my doing, and Steve’s first book came in before the fourth. HJE has some really good leather products I just discovered this year. And another order is on the way with items that showed up in this thread, that I really “needed”.

@jsackin do you have a total number of orders for this year?
about this many

IMG_5379.jpg

FYI: I've left the discount spigot on as we prepare today to get everything together. I haven't counted the final numbers but this was the biggest Epstein's Day yet. Thanks guys for supporting US manufacturing and our little tool store in the midwest.

There should just be two people waiting on backorders from Wright and Enderes.
Thanks Jori.

The wife and I also appreciate the time you spent BS'ing with us and the recommendation for Q39... great food, good service, cute waitress and the wife had a Guinness with her meal.
Thanks again, appreciate it.

A late post. My fiancée and I are highly appreciative of the artwork. The box is still sitting in the office (unpacked with the tools I need of course). She insists I order more tools from HJE. I couldn't agree more.
