Happy New Year!! Good to hear from you.

Glad to hear the truck is out of the shop and you figured out a part to buy for the forklift. Hopefully that is the only primary issue, but prepare for a few other things before it it fully usable, but let's hope for the best!

We're not really sure how i hurt it, it's in a new spot from the old injury. Between the shoulder blades, pain and soreness radiating down left arm. Some neuropathy, i can't feel much on 3 fingers. We've gotten some pain relief from drugs, but they run out this weekend and it's not getting much better. They didn't want to do imaging until they saw how the medication went.

Advil dual action is the closest over the counter pain med to narcotics you can get. Take it w/ a bit of caffeine for better action. If it works for tooth pain , it should help w/ back pain too.

Do you have a good chiropractor? Or a hard 8-10” roller you can stretch over? You might “ just” be suffering from a subluxation ( vertebrae out of whack = pinched nerves) if the three fingers that are numb include thumb, index & middle it’s the radial nerve. If it’s pinkie, ring and bottom of your middle, it’s ulnar nerve. Either way, it’s all down stream from your spine.

note: the advice is worth what you paid for it. After all, I’m only an enamel engineer.

Interesting. Will you go to a facility to do the physical therapy or just instructions for at home PT?

For an accident that I was in last fall, I did about 15 sessions at a PT facility and then some at home exercises. I was a bit surprised at the benefits of both. I did come to enjoy working with the PT instructor and valued that time. Certainly keeps a person accountable.

Hopefully it will help with the pain after a few sessions of PT. I would imagine it is going to be painful when you first start....

Hope you get some relief, we need some more content...

I had an issue with my shoulder that numbed my fingers, they thought I had torn something, they scoped it and after that it was fine again, near as the doc could figure I had a nerve twisted or bunched up and when they scoped it, flooding the area freed things up. Knock on wood, I have not experienced the same issue in 30 years.

So the xrays basically showed some arthritis, some narrowing of nerve spaces. Doc gave me more muscle relaxers and told me to get started on physical therapy.

I had better get this resolved before mid-march because i have a surgery planned that requires no meds for 5 days prior. Ugh.

I had nerve impingement in my lower back in 2012 or so. Doc recommended stretching and strengthening exercises and that's all I needed. Symptom free since then. If I feel a slight tingle now, I'll stretch and make sure I'm well-hydrated.

Sorry to hear it your ulnar nerve issue is getting worse.
My mum has had ulnar nerve entrapment cervical spine for a long time and because of the risks (back in the early 90ties, I'm sure the medical techniques have moved on a lot) she decided against an operation. She got a lot of benefit from physiotherapy (especially the pelotherapy, which is a natural healing practice that involves the topical application of mineral-rich mud to the area). Another treatment that helped her was B12 injections in the beginning and then she started to take some brewer's spent yeast (not sure how easy this is to get hold of where you are but since they live in Belgium it is fairly easy there) every day which is rich in the B-complex vitamins.
Hope you find a solution that works for you soon!

I do have some positive news to share. My work situation has resolved itself. My 2nd week of working for a new manager is finishing today. A total breath of fresh air. I am now leading a design team, which is where i wanted to be, and have a new manager who is someone i have known for a while and like. I no longer work for a crazy person. New boss is very reasonable. And very sharp.

-86,
Thats outstanding!!! Great start to the new year. As Kent said, hopefully as things settle in, it will have a positive impact to your health.

Candidly, I had some stressful work news shortly into the new year and I think it manifested itself into the cold/flu I've been fighting..... and I've noticed that stress will cause my back to tighten up.

Regardless, I'm surprised they are not starting PT soon than 1/27. That seems to be a long time to wait.

Glad to hear of the upside to the work situation!!

I'm still alive. Just got lots on the plate right now. Working through the disc issues, getting into the new role at work. And it's cold here. I run the salamander in the shop a couple of hours to get it warm enough to not need gloves. Par for the course would be I got the boiler done when it hits 80F...

Do what you have to do. The main thing is to be gainfully employed and working on improving your health.

I think as you adjust to the new position and get away from the chronic stress, you will see a lot of improvement...

Probably the best time to be working on the boiler is this summer!!!

Regardless, good to see an update. Good luck at PT!

Thanks. Saw the PT guy this morning, he's getting me setup for 2x a week, and he is very confident we'll see improvement. He definitely noted there's an issue. One day at a time.
I really like the new boss and role. I think i'd be happy to get current projects out of the shop and the new forklift running. Anything else is cake.

Hope PT works out for you. I'm just finishing up several months of PT for serious shoulder issues. No surgery needed, I'm back to 90% or so, swimming 3x/week with no pain.

Had the first PT appt this morning. Its basically just stretching and working range of motion back to where it should be. I just need to keep at it daily.

On another note, the tractor ran yesterday. Got it up to temp, no leaks, oil at rockers, everything seemed fine. I'll retorque head bolts tonight probably and get the rest put together then i should be able to clean the yard/plow. Just in time for more snow this coming weekend. Also trying to get the yard plowed so i can get some more propane. They've been to the house 3 times so far, none wanted to back into the yard to deliver. Cant say i blame them.

Also have some night meetings this week. Just nutty schedule.

Wife wants to get exercise swimming also like bulletpruf, but we have no public pools right around us. She's talking about the next big town over getting a membership somewhere. As long as it gets used i have no problem, but like the gym, if it gets used 3 times and cost me 400 bucks i'm not a fan...

Sounds productive!!!
Hopefully the therapy continues to help you improve!
Glad to hear the tractor is on the mend. Good to have things moving forward...literally.

I got the engine removed from my skid steer this weekend.. what an oily mess. I need to tear the engine down and see what parts I need.

Wow. Skid steers aren't that fun to work on.

I am working through the exercises. Trying to wean myself off of meds. Slowly.

Also now have a nasty howl on the audi. I am HOPING it's just a wheel bearing. Everything else that can be wrong is slightly terrifying.

Working on finishing a wheel bearing on the daily audi, and then a service on it. This weekend.

I forgot i picked this stuff up a couple weeks ago. I got it all sorted finally and took a couple photos.

This was 3 of about 6 tubs. I didn't get a shot of the others. There's another bucket of t-slot nuts, all appear to be for a bridgeport size machine. So now i have all the hold downs i need for both the Hurco and the Bport. I am loving that they use common tooling. Still on the lookout for more cheap tool holders, but those are not very common sadly.

Look for card file drawers, they used them for mini X-rays and microfiche type stuff. If I were closer I would donate some. They usually have a divider that is permanent down the middle of the drawer, but it adds to the structure and they will hold a lot of weight. Drawers are about 4" tall and usually about 5' overall height. Check used office equipment places, I think the most I have paid was a couple hundred, but that was for a really wide one, like 42".

I've got a filing cabinet but really don't like storing stuff like this that way. Unless there's a way to get more shelves
