During the winter I toss my old oil filters into my woodstove, get a little bit of extra heat and then no oily mess when I toss the filter into the trash.
My old wood stove was built more heavily, after punching a hole and drain, I tossed oil filters in it. I would not do it with this stove so I use them when burning the stick piles.

A quick little project for today. The JD 2032R has had this chain on the fuel cap and it keeps twisting and kinking. One of those little things that drives me crazy.
KIMG3724.JPG

The 2nd hardest part was getting it off the ring in the tank.
KIMG3725.JPG

So I took it off and replaced it with SS cable. Getting the cable loop back on the ring was the hardest part.

KIMG3726.JPG

I took the cap off and on a few times and seems to work fine with twisting. Time will tell and if needed, I can put the chain back on.

Moved the JD back to the other side today for a project that has been getting back burner'd. I moved the bandsaw out and cut a few pieces of steel. Some steel flat bar to make an adjustment to the hydraulic press, no pics on that right now. Then some 3/4" round bar.

KIMG3743.JPG

The round bar will be replacing this all-thread that I have been using since the neighbor and I built the press. I still need to get a couple nuts to slide on the endof the round bar and weld on.

Okay, I'm trying to get pictures posted up from my phone and then edit on the PC... It's kicking my *** today.

Here's the rod cut and awaiting nuts for the ends.

KIMG3745.JPG

While I had the metal shorts tote open, I spied a piece of rectangle tubing, 10' long and it'll give me two 5" pieces. This will be a set of steps on the dump trailer. It has one on each side near the front but I'd like to have a step on the rear sides. These got cut while the saw was out. A little cleaning with the belt sander and they will get the end caps welded on. Once that's done and nice weather comes back around, I'll pull the dump trailer close to the O/H door. I can then weld and paint them. They will also get some roll on or spray on bedliner to provide a textured surface on the step surface.

So here's kind of what started the work on the press today. I bought this HF air/hydraulic bottle jack last year. The thought was to get a SWAG 20T finger braker and this would be the extra power needed to brake pieces. I thought I had a deal last fall but turned out to be a 12T model. No deal.

However, I wanted to get this mounted up and got it out of the box today.

KIMG3748.JPG

Removed the old bottle jack and measured for the minimum height of the new jack. I needed to adjust a few things.

KIMG3749.JPG

When built, we notched a piece of steel to hold the bottle jack in place. With the larger jack, this wasn't going to work. It was either cut off the welded on plate or slip a piece of steel in the gap. .. you know which one is easier.
KIMG3750.JPG

I had to completely lower the eye bolts for the return springs so I bought a set of larger springs to help take up the extra distance. Then grabbed a few nuts to weld on the round bar I cut up earlier today.

KIMG3747.JPG
No more garage work tonight. Both granddaughters and granddog are coming out to stay . . . Their mother (our youngest daughter) is getting induced tomorrow for our last grandchild.

Also bent up this piece of scrap and welded it ... forgot to turn the gas back on...ooops this should keep the ram in place when pressure is released.

KIMG3770.JPG

It just needs to be welded here, underneath. However, I don't think I have enough power cord to get the welder over here now.
KIMG3771.JPG

I think I will wait till Saturday and fire up the Deere and use the FEL to move it to the addition. Doing this, I can lay it down and get a better angle welding it.

Well, if you remember the bottle jack retaining plate ? Well after getting the press to the other side, I found it wasn't held on by much. A few seconds with the cut off wheel and a hammer....KIMG3774.JPG

Once removed, I decided to alter my plan a little bit. I'm going to use some angle iron rather than the piece I bent up. KIMG3775.JPG

Then back to the press, I would have finished yesterday but I mowed the yard, first time this season. As I was moving it back to the other side, I had a phone call from my parents and a trip to help out my step dad.

I drilled the base and mount for the bottle jack.
KIMG3782.JPG

Then cut the angle iron and tacked it together.KIMG3783.JPG

Checked for size.

Got started mixing concrete and filling the forms. I was done mixing a short time later. Morning sun hitting it and then 20 mph wind gusts made it difficult to finish. Top layer wanted to dry up but the underneath was still green.KIMG3792.JPG

KIMG3793.JPGBroom finish didn't turn out the greatest.

About 4 hours later, I went out and popped the form boards at stakes.

Too late but I was gonna suggest extend the pad left to the carport.
Nah, I mixed up 80 lb bags for this little pour. If that trailer pad was extended, again, it's going to be ready-mix.
There’s always tomorrow 🎉
No, no and no. You know how many bags I have have mixed up since we bought this place ? I know 4 pallets @ 42 bags/pallet... plus many many more bags. The front sidewalk and one along the house garage were mixed with bulk material.

So bifold door is hung up. Done. Concrete pad, dirt and grass seed. Done. Hydraulic press. Done... Except for the release knob .. still to come.

A quick project since I got my enclosed trailer back from winter storage.

Some stainless hooks off The Jungle. Odd thought isn't it ? But this is where we go.
KIMG3819.JPG
I've been using a couple of pieces of coat hanger to hold the extension cord off the ground.

Today was another little project, something I have thought about doing for a while. In the garage shed, I need to get better organized. My small fuel jugs are a PITA and seemed to be in the way. I thought a shelf would be handy.

Usually how these projects go .. right s you do something, bam, time to fix this. So trying to figure out a shelf for the space and what materials I had on hand.

No in progress pics as I have was trying to work through what I was doing. However, I think it turned out better than I thought with what I had.

Sun was in the way of the pics.

I've been thinking about this for a while, since buying the first Slate Gray USG box....the rest of the red boxes need to go. Granted, the top box was bought when I started at General Electric back in '98. KIMG3828.JPG

I debated getting a 27" top box, add a set of drawers from a service cart underneath. However, pricing it out was close to the same as a 27" bottom box.KIMG3825.JPG

Noticed that it's made in Thailand and not mainland China.

So I got the preliminary set up for the box done. I took some pics because I know it would be blasphemy not show tool box pics.

I did order some Ernst wrench and pliers organizers off The Jungle so take that into consideration.

First thing I did was look underneath and see what the box was sitting on. Not wanting it to sit on the side edges, I cut a piece of 1/2" plywood.
KIMG3832.JPG

Wrangled it under the box and it gained a slight gap.KIMG3833.JPGwhat we have kids it's final resting place.
