Whew. Bummer on the fire. Glad you and yours are safe, though!
Yeah, I was completely soaked with sweat with my fat *** running across the yard (football field length) and then trying to get the fire out.
Damn, now you will dwell on the damage/repair needed, while being stuck in London for a bit. Hope damage isn't as bad as it looks. Safe
I'm pretty sure it's as bad as it looks. I'll know more when I tear into it though. New engine is around 2.5k. New mower is a little over 5k

Wow! Glad you are OK and were able to get the fire out before half of Oklahoma burned.
Well it started back up on the neighbors side yesterday afternoon. But it was burning against the strong southern wind thankfully. City brush truck, ranchers trucks and osage nation fire crews showed back up and got it out before running north on another fire.

I put my tank sprayer on the 4 wheeler last night and spent 2 hours soaking the fire area on the nieghbors side. I couldn't find any smoldering spots left last night. Watched till midnight then crashed. Didn't see anything at 5am before I left. Been watching my house cams that point that way while sitting at the airport. Brother is going to run out this afternoon and do another check.

I'm back... Spent the weekend relaxing and recuperating after the busy as hell two week trip to London. I did go out and check the Bees this weekend. All but 1 hive are doing great. That hive is a dead out and removed it, I didn't think it would make it while I was gone and was right.

Over the trip, I had several 16+ hour work days fixing some issue in code. The first weekend there, I went to the London water and steam engine museum and shopped for presents for the wife and grandkids.

The 2nd weekend was also a bank holiday, so I only worked 3 days in the office the 2nd week but did work some over that weekend and on monday to get some things done. That Saturday, I took the train up to Bletchley park and went through it and also the national computing museum.

On some sad news, my new tester that I got to actually meet the first week of my trip never showed up to work the 2nd week. We got ahold of her cell from HR and found out she was one of the people critically hurt in the Indian Aroma restaurant that was fire bombed in Ilford on the previous fri night. She is in very critical condition and is at the top burn center in London undergoing surgeries. I'm still waiting to hear more on how she is doing. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/lon...ices-metropolitan-police-london-b1244684.html

Managed to drag the mower into the shop yesterday evening. I think the motor is going to be ok, carb is shot, the hydro overfill tanks are melted, needs a tire. new choke and gas cables, starter, and some other parts. Going to just order bits at a time to make sure I can get it running first, then will move on to the hydro static drive but they looked fine so far from my inspection.

Crossing fingers for your injured coworker.
Thanks, was not something I expected to have to deal with. I don't know much more other than they are doing surgeries and she is burned really bad and is at the Top Burn center in the UK along with her husband I believe. She had only been in the UK 3 months and had just started working for us 3 weeks ago. The company was going to stop paying her after 2 weeks and we fought that and got her covered for the next 3 months and will reevaluate then on how she is doing and progressing.

Didn't accomplish a lot this weekend, but I did get the cover built to cover the water lines/valves in the bee room. Used a 1x6 sitting on the shelf and some old plywood to make the cover. Turned out decent. Saturday I picked up a 2x2x8 and a 20v dewalt leaf blower. Ordered a stubby shaft for the leaf blower yesterday. This is going to be used to blow the bees out of the honey supers when we harvest them in a couple of weeks. Also changed the oil on the wife's jeep, topping up the bug juice and added another box of chicken piss to it.

Also yesterday I smoked a pork belly coated in hot honey and some bang-bang. Turned out pretty tasty.

Got a stack of parts for the mower sitting in the shop, works been nuts and worked till 11pm last night and several other long days this week. Made several trips out to the shop today while I was waiting on things to run and unboxed and laid out the parts.

I managed to get the following new parts installed: starter, carb, stator, coil packs and plugs all installed. Mower started right up once I got fuel to the new carb. Runs great.

Found I needed a new drive belt as well... so got that ordered. I'm still waiting on new throttle and choke cables, I need to make new reservoir lines, mount the reservoirs, change the drive filters, put new belt on, change the engine oil, install throttle and choke cables and put the tires back on and the back metal body piece then will see if it drives as well as runs...

I also ordered an air ride/shock absorber seat mount to see if I can get better ride out of it while mowing our rough *** yard.

No real pics from the weekend. Didn't work a whole lot on the mower but did get more done to it. Fri night I drained the engine oil and added new oil/filter to it. Also drained both hydro motors and changed the filters. Added the reservoirs, but ended up using some old AN line for the hoses because what they shipped me was way too thin I thought.

Sunday I installed the drive belt, that was a pita to get put in. Had to loosen and drop both drives down so I could get the belt onto each drives pulleys, then undo the spring for the tensioner and get the belt on and retention it. Also started adding fluid to the drives, need to add more today. Also worked on getting that suspension seat base put onto the mower. Finally got the base mounted to the plate and had to take the seat padding off and working on mounting the seat base to the top. the bolts they supplied don't work, so having to work though the fitment issue, but getting there.

Hopefully I can test out the drives tonight and see if they turn like they should. If that test works, then I can put the wheels back on and just wait for the choke/throttle cables to come in and finish putting it back together.

Tested out the hydro motors tonight, they both work still. Topped off the reservoirs twice today to fill the motors up. Once I verified they both work, I finished up the seat install, then put the tires on it and got it back on the ground. Then I put the back steel plate on and mounted the reservoirs to it. The only thing lacking is the new throttle and choke cables, but they shipped today. Going to take it out of the shop tomorrow and see how it works cutting grass again and see how the new ride is with the seat.

Still waiting on the 4 wheeler control arm to ship out, so I haven't gotten it fixed yet. But my stubby tube for the leaf blower I bought came in and I got it installed on the "bee blower".

The suspension seat is a game changer and so comfortable, I'm sure you will love it. I did notice on mine I had to crank it up for more than my 180 lbs, I think it was closer to 220 so I didn't bottom it out on bigger bumps too often.

The mower cleaned up nicely. Good job! (y)
Thanks, now to see if it holds up mowing tonight...

Johnnie , great work on the mower, it’ll ride better than new.

How’s the girl doing ? Better I hope. She might be at Broomfield hospital, Chelmsford, a specialist burns unit. Have heard little about it on the news, looked like a targeted attack.

Love the bee blower in bee colours.

Steve 🍻
Thanks. I haven't gotten much of any updates, she's undergone quite a few surgeries and it's going to still be a long time for her recovery. They are still both in ICU from the last update I heard but in stable condition.

Yeah, I definitely need to adjust this one, plan on doing that tonight when I get the main yard mowed if it all goes well.

It's alive... Got the mower all back together, everything works again. Mowed most of the main yard Tues night. Only glitch was one of the rear wheels lost 3 lug nuts... Could have sworn I tightened them up, so anyway, I ran yesterday evening and got new lugnuts and got the wheel fixed, then went out for Fajita taco salad and a Jalapeno Margaretta.

Will finish mowing tonight, then work on prepping the baloney and pork bellies that I'm going to smoke tomorrow night to make burnt ends out of both. Also need to work on doing a quick clean/organization of the bee room in prep for Saturday when we harvest honey.

I've been thinking of getting a new tractor for a while. Rebuilding of the ol 4010 keeps taking the back burner for other things I need to get done and I really need to use a tractor for some of the things I need to do around here, so I spent months looking, researching the various brands and determining the size I needed on the newer versions. I've always owned 50's and 60's tractors so I had to edumacate myself on the newer ones. I ended up going with the JD 5075e because it doesn't have def, doesn't regen. They redesigned the engine to keep from having that. I had them add a 2nd hydro control for the rear so I can run my heavy assed old multi angle blade. I also added a loader on front along with a 3rd hydro up there as well. I did forget to have rear wheel weights added onto it, so I need to purchase those sometime and get them on it. Took them a while to find it. I started talking to them when I was in London a month ago about what I wanted and the options to add onto it. They got the tractor in last week and parts to add the loader and hydraulics to it. Finished it up Weds and delivered it today.

Now just need to order a skidsteer adapter for it. Also want to tracking down a used 7' rotary cutter brush cutter and a 3pt Chain harrow are on the immediate want lists.

Now you'll be spoiled with modern conveniences! The loader parking stands should fit in the cross tube of the loader arms.

This weekend I celebrated another trip around the glowy hot thing in the sky and some of the kids and grandkids came over and helped Saturday to gather the supers, extract the frames and start bottling it. I finished the bottling Sunday with the help of my wife. We bottles 132lbs of honey for this year. I've gotten most of the equipment cleaned up and I need to finish up with the wax cappings and the last bit of honey will go into a couple of mason jars for me to play with making Hot Honey sometime in the future when I have time and get the peppers dehydrated.

Johnnie, sorry to be so late but Happy Birthday anyway. Mine was two days before yours so I was still eating cake on yours.

Great to hear you and your team fought for some extra coverage for your new hire colleague. There was a time when companies bent over backwards to help employees when a disaster threw them a horrible curve ball. Most of those companies now care more about costs and profits and when one affects the other, profit almost always wins.

Thanks all for the birthday wishes, time's flown since I was last able to post on here. Work has been crazy busy even more so as we are trying to push projects across the line. Worked till 11pm several times last week and some on the weekends trying to get my work caught up since I'm in 4 to 6 hrs of meetings each day plus all the teams messages from my team asking for help or clarification on things. Hard to concentrate on things with interruptions every 15 minutes or so.

Been working on getting the wax cappings cleaned and melted over several cycles in my solar wax melter. It's almost completely clean now. I need to pull it back into the shop tomorrow and wash it and see if I need to run it through it again or not.

Got the pc I bought 6 months ago finally out to my shop and setup in there.

54840020633_a31aaf532d_h.jpg

The new honey labels I ordered that finally came in Monday. I fixed the spelling of county before I actually ordered them...

54838912632_be84197136_h.jpg

Drug out the angle blade this evening. I picked up new hoses and fitting to convert it to pioneer iso style on the new tractor and all the hoses are rotten, so replacing them as well.

54840010014_68efc420e4_h.jpg

Broke out the little stick welder and welded on the mounts for two jacks so I can get it to stand up straight and make it easier to get hooked up to the tractor.

Booking my next trip to London tomorrow, flying there on Nov 14th and flying home Nov 17th most likely. Heading to Vegas for a conference on the 27th of Oct and back on the 30th.

Worked on the angle blade off and on over the weekend with several trips to get fittings for it. Got all the hoses replaced and it mounted on the tractor. Hooked up the hydraulics and left/right work, but tilt doesn't. The dealership that installed the 2nd scv valve on the back didn't hook the damned rod up from the lever to the valve. I can't get my hand in there to do it, so now waiting on their service guys to show up and fix it. Somehow I managed to get one mount off when I welded the mount onto the blade, I'll need to cut it off and reweld it onto the tractor.

First hockey game of the season was Sat night in a preseason game. Lets just say they lost 5 - 0, it was horrible the way they played or should I just say skated as they weren't a team out there.

Took yesterday off on the beginnings of burning all my vacation time up till the end of the year. Taking several next mondays off, then basically from Thanksgiving week on, I'm on vacation till the end of the year.

Worked out in the shop, cleaned up piles of tools, parts and trash. Worked on the bee room cleaning it up more and organizing things back on shelves and started putting the labels on the honey bottles. Need to get that finished this week so it's done.

Worked more on the 4 wheeler, tearing it down further with ordering both upper and lower ball joints for it. Once they are in, I can start putting it back together.

John Deere finally showed back up and got the pin in for the 2nd rear remotes installed so now that works. That was Tuesday afternoon. Monday I took off and finally got the last of the parts for the 4 wheeler in so I was able to put new ball joints into it. The upper one didn't want to come out. I ended up cutting on it and lots of 5lb sledge work with it.

Yesterday, I finally got to try out the tractor with the angle blade. Started working on the ditches down our drive, working on getting them carved in decently, then will start sloping the road towards them so it doesn't run down the actual road. Works pretty good. Tractor has enough weight and once I finally started getting the tall grass dragged/cut out it worked great. Will work more on it tonight.

Tuesday I also cut off and rewelded on the crooked jack leg I had put on it the other day. It's now straight.

Worked on the road a bit last night. Ditches are starting to look much better and starting to get a crown back into the road. Need to haul in more gravel after I get back from my trip to Vegas monday for a conference.

Tonight is the opening season home game for the Oilers hockey team, they are 1 and 1 on the road so far.

Gotta be tricky to carry grade off the back of a tractor. Nice work!
It's a slow process, especially since the main tracks had been worn into it with the shoulders higher than the road after many years of just adding gravel as needed. I'll have about 3 loads of 3/4" crusher run brought in and get it spread/packed in and that will help raise the road just a hair as well. Once I have the crown built back up, then I'll use my land leveler to smooth it all out. The wife was complaining last night about all the grass bunches all over the road from scraping off the ditches....

No work on it this weekend as it started raining last night and supposed to go all weekend. Not complaining, it's been really dry lately and we need it.

Well, been a bit since I've updated on here. Went to Vegas on the 27th of Oct for a Conference. Barely slept the whole trip, think I averaged about 3 hours a night while there between early morning work meetings, conference going all day and night events there for 3 days of conference. My boss was there from the UK as well and it ended up a good trip. We both ended up sick from the trip, evidently typhoid mary made her presence there known to everyone and I guess a ton of people ended up sick from the conference.

I'm finally starting to feel better, now the wife has it... I'm due to fly out to London next Friday. Found out last night my 12:30 flight from Tulsa to Dallas was changed to a 6am flight with a huge layover at DFW now due to the gubmnt shutdown.

The only thing I've managed to accomplish since I've been back to Vegas besides the day job was to pull everything from the garden and get all the peppers processed. I dehydrated all the tabasco peppers and about half the serrano once as well. The mixed bag of mild peppers were diced up and frozen. Bell peppers were sliced up and frozen for meal adds. Last night I finished up with the peppers by taking all the large poblano peppers and stuffing them with cooked italian sausage and cream cheese and wrapping them in bacon for our supper last night. The other half of the poblano's were diced up into my mixed bags of peppers.

I've got a ton of green tomatoes we are trying to get to turn out on the patio before the big hard freeze hits sunday sometime.

Tomorrow I need to get out to the well house, cut out the 1" pvc **** that has a small drip and I'm replacing the whole section with pex. Then need to rewrap it with heat tape and insulation for the upcoming cold season. Already disconnected the auto watering system for the garden and fruit trees. Drained/refilled the hot tub and got it ready to use again in the cool weather. Really need to build a new door for the well house as well. The 1x's have not fared well in the weather. Might reframe the door and build one out of 2x's to make it sturdier and close better.

The tabasco and serrano plants before I finished picking them:

Yesterday, fixed the small drip in the well house by getting rid of the pvc and replaced it with 1" pex. Finished up by wrapping the heat tape, foam line insulation then wrapped it with a roll of insulation. Should work for the winter.

Today I finished making the rest of the winter feeders for the bees. Hopefully it warms up tomorrow with less wind so I can get them put on and let them sit for the winter then.

Finished up the day with a hockey game. Was close, ended up winning in ot tonight, that's 5 in a row. Much better that the unorganized team that started the season.

Had to find a Pic of me in uniform for the grandkids veterans day program tues. Hard to believe it's been 35 years since that Pic was taken... and I had hair...

Meet my newest grandkiddo, Payton. She was born Weds night. Amanda my daughter's been hospitalized for the last few weeks with severe pre eclampsia (sp?) in her 2nd trimester and her liver enzymes shot way up Weds, so they had to go ahead and deliver her at 28 weeks 1 day. They were hoping to get her to 34 weeks before delivering but it just didn't happen. Mother and baby are both doing good. Payton is in NICU and will be for a while. She weighed 2lbs 13oz, but is definately a fighter, she's on room air, and they are actually talking about starting feeding her earlier than they initially projected.

Picked me up a new travel toy for when I'm in the London or Tulsa Offices and having to use their crappy monitors. It's a fold up dual 4k set of monitors that are 15" display. both run at 3kx2k and found out I can run them on top of my docking stations 3 other monitors at the house as well.

I'm sitting her at the DFW American Airlines Admirals club working since I have an 8 hour window between flights and the people in the work center are all asking about the new dual monitors, one guy actually looked it up and ordered it right then... funny.

Been scrambling this week to get things weather prepped, fixing issues, etc.. Put a shutoff switch for the hydraulic bale spike and feeder on the purple feed truck as well as a new set of warrantied batteries, so it's back up and going. Hoping the shutoff switch fixed the huge power drain it was having, I can't figure anything else out on what might be causing it.

Got most of the tomatoe's turned red and cut out bad spots and in the freezer ready for me to have time to start canning them when I get back. Bottled up the dehydrated serrano and tabasco peppers and then used my new vacuum sealer on the lids to lock in the goodness.

Now just waiting on my flight to London to work this next week and then I'm on vacation till next year. I'll have to do some meetings and other things while I'm off but it will be nice to be able to just work on some projects at the house and get some more things accomplished.

Had a pretty good trip to Jolly Ole England and back. Not much sleep on the trip, but I was able to catch up with the Famous Sawduststeve on my last night there, one of my coworkers in from Germany went with me and the 3 of us had a good meal and lots of good conversations. On the weekend there, I grabbed gifts for the wife and grandkids Saturday, then Sunday I went to the Victoria and Albert museum and spent all day there. I walked a little over 7 miles that day and I'm pretty sure 6 of them were in the museum alone.

Made it back in time for the Hockey game friday night, but by the time I got my bags, uber to hospital and saw my new Grandbaby, the up for 23 hours was starting to hit me. So the wife and I headed home, grabbed some BBQ on the way and I watched two periods of the game on flo hockey then crashed.

Saturday, was the night we had the suite at the BOK, so it was us and 18 other friends/family members at the game, including my dad. We all had a lot of fun and ended the night with a photo out on the ice.

This is a pic from the suite we were in, it's on the opposite side from where we normally sit. The tall guy is the team mascot, he was in his ref uniform including blindfold and walking stick...

Today I got around to ordering a couple of things. The first one is a 3pt mounted pto driven wood chiper from woodland mills, it's the TF68Pro model that takes in up to 6" trees, has a hydraulic feeder and has dual flywheels. The primary spins at normal speed for chipping, the 2nd one is sped up to help with airflow and chip throwing.

The second thing I ordered was a skid steer auger from Stout Buckets, it's a lowe 750 model, also ordered a 12" and 18" bits that are both 4' long.

Ended up working a few hours yesterday for work and damned near all day today except running to get stuff my wife ordered for turkey day. Get 20 miles from home (30 minutes from picking up the stuff) and the wife calls me, they forgot to give me two things, so turned back around and off I go to get the last 2 items. Ended up back at the house an hour later than I planned.

I did stop off at Ace and bought a new Stihl 261 c-m pro model chain saw. I've been looking at them for a while and it was either this one or one of similar size in the farm and ranch line, but after reading about the f & r line having bar oiler problems, I went with the pro line for 200.00 more. Comes with a magnesium case instead of the plastic one the f & r line uses, plus quite a few more things included with the pro model.

I'd planned on trying my hand at making Jalepeno Popper sausage balls tonight for us to eat, and just now got the bacon to use in it on the smoker. I'll get it smoked, then see how late it is whether I cook the balls tonight or wait till the morning.

Also trying something else out. I took 2 cans of apple pie filling with some carmel small ball pieces in each spoon full, filled up ice trays with the mixture and froze them. I'll then mix up a batch of pancake mix and coat the frozen mixture and deep fry them in oil to make an apple pie beignet with a little powdered sugar on top....
