Is it really a sale if you don’t need a damn thing? And what’s Black Friday supposed to be if you’re not actually in the market for anything? You can probably guess how I’d answer both of those. I’ve never been much of a coupon hound.

That said, the last few months of this internet economy have absolutely kicked my ass. Mix together our apparent moral mismatch with the folks controlling the ad dollars, add a shitty economy on top of it, and Q4 would be a bloodbath if revenue was the thing steering this ship.

And even though it’s not, everybody still has to eat.

So I asked a few trusted forum pals what the hell I should be doing. The overwhelming answer? Lean harder into affiliate links. Apparently I have “access” the average Joe doesn’t, and I should be putting it to use. The problem is that pushing affiliate links makes me feel like I should be selling used Tauruses on a gravel lot.

“Not if you’re honest about it,” they said.

Fine. I’ll give it a shot. Let’s start with Amazon, since they actually send me a list of what they claim are the best deals. Whether you, me, or the next guy agrees… who cares? Let’s just dive in.

And that’s where I’m at for now – Essentially, the first page of the “best deals” Amazon Associates has to offer. They update this stuff throughout the whole Black Friday circus, so I’ll try to keep up as long as my dignity holds. And if you stumble on a deal that’s worth a damn at Amazon or anywhere else for that matter, throw it here as a reply or drop it in one of the Hot Deals threads. My dignity would appreciate the help.

So a few weeks ago, I reviewed the Mileseey S50 Laser Measure and frankly, fell in love with the damned thing. So much so, that I agreed to review anything else that Mileseey wanted to send my way. Instead, they countered with an idea… “How about a giveaway?”

So, here’s the deal:

Post a reply in this thread. You can reply all you want, but only your first reply actually counts. On November 20th — just a few days out — we’ll randomly pick three winners. Two folks will get an S50 just like the one I reviewed, and one lucky bastard will get an XTAPE1. Drop-shipped. No hoops. No gimmicks. Just free tools for doing basically nothing.

Have at it, fellas… and good luck.

Alright, fellas, here’s the deal. We’re giving away a $5,000 gift card to put toward your very own set of NewAge Products cabinets. If you don’t know NewAge Products, do yourself a favor and check out the feature I put together a few months back—you can find it here.

Now, here’s the kicker: all you have to do to throw your hat in the ring is reply to this thread. That’s it. On January 2, 2025, we’ll let fate take the wheel, pull a random number, and whoever’s reply lines up gets the goods. It’s that simple—no hoops, no fine print.

So good luck, gentlemen and gentleladies. And a big shout-out to the folks at NewAge Products for stepping up and making this happen. Super cool of them.

I don’t buy into the madness of Black Friday or Cyber Monday. No adrenaline rush, no dopamine hit, none of that consumerist lunacy—unless, of course, it’s something I actually need. That’s rare. But, I have a personal relationship with Noco… Not the corporate kind of relationship—hell, I don’t even know anyone at the company. But I’ve been using these things for years, and they’ve never let me down. Not once.

Anyway, word on the street is Amazon’s practically giving them away right now. A full-on fire sale. You can check out all the deals, but if you want my advice, go for the Boost Plus GB40. It’s cheap, simple, and does exactly what it’s supposed to. No frills, no bullshit—just works.

Details here.

Black Friday, Prime Day—Good God, the frenzy of consumerism is enough to drive a sane man mad. The whole charade is designed to lure you into buying junk you don’t need and will rarely use, all under the seductive guise of a bargain. I already hemorrhage enough cash and accumulate enough crap to last several lifetimes.

But last week, necessity reared its ugly head. I needed a few things and figured I’d gamble on Prime Day, hoping the capitalist gods would smile upon me. The prices didn’t plummet as dramatically as I’d hoped, but I did save a few bucks. Here’s the haul:

  1. NOCO Boost X GBX45. The Rivian needed an emergency 12V source, and I’d never owned a jump box. General consensus is NOCO is the king, and this little GBX45 was 25% off.
  2. Nitecore NU45 Headlamp. These headlamps are obscenely large and bright, but damn it, they’re the best I’ve ever used. They were 20% off, so I couldn’t resist adding another to my collection.

And one more thing—though not a Prime Day purchase, it’s worth mentioning. I’ve had this beast of a tote for a while now. It’s a giant tote… or bin… or box… whatever you want to call it, it’s a lifesaver. It’s pricey, but RUX is offering $75 off their 70L bin for Prime Day. If you’re the right kind of person who can make full use of this thing, it’s a steal.

In the end, it’s a dance with the devil, but sometimes you come out ahead… And other times you end up a broke hoarder.

So, what did you pick up?

A while back, my brother Keith gotta call from someone looking to unload some furniture from an old car dealership somewhere in Texas. It didn’t take long for the guy to mention part of the haul was a Kent Moore Work Station believed to be from 1945. It took even less time for Keith to come to terms with the asking price.

But now, reality has set in… Neither of us have the space for this setup and it would be a shame to part it out. So, here I am… hat in hand… wondering if anyone has a scratch that can’t be itched by anything other than an old work station. If so, drop me a PM and I will get you hooked up with Keith.

The units are all in pretty decent shape. They have bumps and bruises from being moved around by forklifts through the years, but they still present great and there doesn’t appear to be any real rust anywhere. If you have the space and agree with the aesthetic, these would work just fine as is.

BUT… If you have the time and the inclination, these units would be nothing short of incredible restored. And man, that would be a fun project. He’s looking to get around $10k, but is accepting offers.

Got an email from Tyler over at Bendpak/Quickjack. They are holding a pretty significant sale on Quickjacks right now. Basically, it’s $250 off both models and free shipping.

For the record, I actually have one of these – the BL-5000SLX to be exact. I use it at the racetrack as a sort of mobile lift. It fits in the back of my truck just fine, is light enough not to be too much of a burden and is incredibly handy to have when you are hunting brake issues or need to get under the car… for any reason really.

And hell, if you don’t have a more traditional lift at home just stash one of these in the corner and use it in place of a jack and jack stands.

And no, this is not a paid sponsorship of any kind. QuickJack is not paying me for this post… I just like these things.

Anyway, sale information is here.

I don’t have power to the APO yet and will probably do something only temporary this summer. That being said, I’m already thinking about simple lighting solutions and a pal suggested I give these 60-watt LED lights a go. Typically, these are $50 a pair… Cheap enough, right? But right now, they are almost half off of that!

Details here.

Anyone ever gives these a go? Are they as good as my buddy claims? I don’t mind a nice white light… But I can’t stand cheaper blue LEDs and at 6500K, these are getting close to the danger zone.

The guys at BendPak are buddies of mine… and they just sent over an update to their ad that caught my attention. Essentially, you can get one of their QuickJacks from Costco for only $899. They normally sell for just over $1400, so that’s a pretty decent discount. These things are actually pretty great too. I got one of their early prototype units years ago and have used it both at the shop and at the track. It’s literally irreplaceable when I take the 964 to COTA and in the shop, it’s nice to have something you can get the hell out of the way when you aren’t using it. I’m not much for jacks and jack stands.

Anyway, total transparency here. BendPak is NOT paying me for this post, but they do sponsor the site.

More information on the deal here.

See Comments on the forum.
