Well fellas… For many of you, your worst nightmare has been realized. And for others, your wildest dreams have come true. After over a decade on antiquated forum software, The Garage Journal has FINALLY been updated to a more future proof and secure platform – Xenforo.
This endeavor has taken over a year to complete. Migrating such a large and robust forum is an incredibly challenging endeavor and one that, quite frankly, I was not excited about doing. While I am always game for change and challenge, I hate putting others through an experience of uncertainty and confusion. So this is me, hat in hand, approaching you with a new Garage Journal and hoping that you are willing to give me and the new site a chance.
If not, I get it… Some folks aren’t down for change and this is, after all, just a message board for garages and tools. Good luck and I wish you nothing but the best.
If you are, however… From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Sincerely. I appreciate the faith and promise to work my tail off to get you comfortable and happy with this new environment.

But how about this new environment? Obviously, we now have a ton of new features to explore and take advantage of – including things like easier image uploads, user tagging, a like system, activity streams, and much more… In the coming days and weeks, I will be building a tutorial section to show off these shiny new features as well as show you guys how you can use them to improve your own experience.
Of course, it would be impossible for me to expect such a large migration to come without bugs. We’ve worked really hard over the last few weeks to iron out as many of them as we could find, but I am confident there are plenty that snuck in under the radar. If you find something, feel free to start a thread in the bug/feedback forum found here.
Also, your constructive feedback is important to me. If you see something that doesn’t jive with your sensibilities you can post it here as well. I can’t promise to make every change requested, but I do hope to get as many people happy as I can.

Again, fellas… Thanks so much for your patience and understanding throughout all of this. I can’t tell ya how much everyone (my wife and I) here at Atomic HQ appreciate it. This has been a really stressful few weeks and I need some sleep in a major way, but I am so happy to have this done and can’t wait to get on with showing the new joint off!
