I'll post mine tomorrow, half my Klein tools are in the car the other half at work. I'll have to snap some pictures.

Should be a good thread. "If it ain't Klein, it ain't mine!"

There's a few things in life that require no introduction. Klein tools are one of them. You know you're an industry giant when the tool type becomes synonymous with the company name. Ask for a pair of Kleins and everyone knows what you want. Klein pliers are among my very favorites and I have many. The 2000 series Linemans are bar none my favorite and also Kleins signature tool.

I recently bought this Klein Switch Driver and I love it. I keep it in the drill case and works great. Made in USA. Unfortunately discontinued, but plenty are available online.

Glad to see the interest in this thread.. I'm not an electrician or lineman or anything related, but do a bit of DIY work on my and my family's electrical systems, and have come to appreciate the quality and again for the majority of their line, made in USA tools.

I have come to appreciate, especially, the quality of their screw drivers as they can be universally used on DIY projects, and especially like the type of screwdriver ID on the top or handle of the screwdriver..

I'll post some of my Klein gear later on.. Thanks for the interest, and if there are tool or other forums that relate, please link them here. If there is another thread like this, I'll let this one die off gracefully... :)

I have a few USA Klein tools (20+ yrs) and have no complaints...torque wrench, side cutters, linesman plyiers, screwdrivers & a 3/8" metric socket set. The socket set is my go to for metrics before others.

I have that tool also. Great for starting screws and or swapping between a cordless with a quick change fitting. Nice diameter handle also for good torque!

I also have a pretty extensive collection of Klein tools. Mostly pliers strippers etc. I had a decent set of Klein screwdrivers too. I donated them to younger kid ( friends son ) just starting out. They were not heavily used but in very nice working condition. I have enough screwdrivers so I could spare a few. I now use the cheap craftsman diamond tip drivers in my mobile tool bag. Not bad for the money

My little collection. The most recent purchase was the little tester kit with the DMM, non contact voltage detector and outlet tester that I got for knock- around and household stuff. e7015c8fbcc6299ad7b21e8343c54886.jpg

Glad to see this thread, I have grown to appreciate Klein pliers over the last few years.

I have a few, mostly well used vintage stuff that is still has a lot of life left in them. Need to take some pics.

I was raised on Utica and Channelock, but prefer Klein over CL for most pliers. Still have an affinity for Utica though.

They discontinued these? How positive is the bit retention? Much wobble?

Here's a spattering of Klein from the tote I keep in the house for grab and go repairs and a few items from the garage.

That's what Klein's website says.

The bit chuck is excellent. It's made of steel, pressed into the handle. You push the bits in, and push the ring to get them out, like some impact drivers. There is hardly any wobble. I've tried a variety of bits by different manufacturers and they all work well.

Finally remembered to snap a pic of my modest collection. I can say I'm mostly impressed with their offerings. My only gripe is their newer pliers tend to flash rust very quickly. You can see the bent needle nose are shiny, they are older with stamping vs laser etching, they just havent rusted.

I have a question about Klein handles; does the color mean anything? I see a mix of red, blue, and yellow and wonder if there's any significance to the choices.

It's just so they can be identified among a pouch full of tools. The different colors and shades separate out the different types and series of pliers.

The Phillips #3 that was made for these is the absolute best. Fits snug in screws and doesn't need to be magnetized to hold them to start a hole.

A few of mine at home, lot more at work, Power Lineman by trade!

My favorite Klein knife -
image.jpg

And this is my favorite Klein grip by far.. did a lot of searching to find these again. I was told they were recalled years ago.. this is the most desired model at my last job, and just had my new placed get a few of em.. the file inside the jaw makes sure they never slip.

IMG_2161.png

Searched far and wide for what I felt was the perfect tool pouch, and this is what I went with.. love it.. I have two pockets on the opposite side of my belt also that hold my Klein knife and Knipex mini bolt cutters.. coated the pouch with about 10 coats of neatsfoot oil as soon as it came.

I have mixed feelings about the Klein ratcheting screwdrivers I had my company get. They are nice enough quality, but the bit arrangement is mind boggling, and the bit retention could be a little better.. i almost prefer the non ratcheting 11-in-1 Milwaukee over it.. Almost...

"favorite Klein knife"?

What do you use it for?

To cut things... :)

They make other models with wider handles and shorter blades, among other things. This is just the model I like.

To be more specific, it gets used to cut off electrical tape, strip insulation off self supporting inner duct.. basically anything the requires a knife that you don't have to baby. It would be nice if one of these companies would make a blade out of better steel like D2 or something. But it sharpens easy enough with a Klein or GMP hand held sharpener. Wish I could say the back of the blade doesn't get hit with a hammer on occasion, but that would be a lie.
