When the Ford model T was sold did it come with any tools / spanners?
I have just seen a tv program that had a T on and it kept showing spanners

When my Dad passed I got all his tools and among them is some tools that I saw on the tv program.
I have just been looking on the web and I am sure I have at least 4 or 5 tools that come from a model T.
My dad worked at a Ford garage for many years so possibly that’s where they came from .
My dad was 103 years old when he passed

lol model t tools? you talking about like old school stuff or just keepin it simple? honestly if youre modding a jeep just grab a decent socket set and a breaker bar. half the time im out there winging it with whatever i got in the bed of the truck anyway. what kinda work you planning to do?
Where does the inclusion of a Jeep fit into the question about Model T tools? He asked nothing about modding a Jeep.

I have run across the Ford embossed combination wrench with the bend in it, the Ford embossed DOE, and the adjustable Ford Stilson wrench well over 50 times. I have owned all three of them a couple times… I usually got them in boxes of tools that I bought. I don’t resell tools, so I would never buy them on purpose.

If they came from the factory with the black coating… by the time that I see them, it is gone.

If you went to 20 estate sales in this area, you would run into one or all three of those tools at one or more sales. They are wildly common in this area.

Yep, they are about the most common and easy to find Ford hand tools. The adjustable wrench is for Model A Fords - the tang in the bottom is used to remove the differential drain bolt. That same wrench without the tang came with Model Ts and Ford tractors. The two in the middle are spark plug/cylinder head nut wrenches. Ford's general part number for them is 17017. I cannot quite see the part number, but if it begins with "40", it is for 1933-37 85hp V8 Fords. The one below looks like it might be the Model T era. The two open-end wrenches (17015 and 17016) are 7/16" x 1/2" and 9/16" x 5/8". They were included in Ford car and tractor owner tool kits up into the mid 50's.

The T was sold with a set of basic tools. Pliers, screwdriver, Spark plug/head bolt wrench, Band adjusting wrench, Jack, tire pump, Hub cover/wheel bearing (pressed metal) wrench, and the infamous "ford wrench" (less the square tang on the bottom)... I have an early "Moore" adjustable T wrench which was found in our old back yard.

What scant information I have been able to find leads me to think this is more "T" than "A" era. (Yes, it works... I have to get a new hose made for it.)

It is definitely a Model T era tire pump. First I've seen of a dual-tube type like that. Pretty cool. It was not included in Ford owner tool kits, but sold as an aftermarket item at parts stores, etc., for a variety of makes/models.

I wandered back over to the MTFCA site, and one poster shows a similar two-tube air pump that he claims is correct for the 1911-12 timeframe. I don't know if that is a legit claim or not. The one shown here is the one that I have always seen in tool kits for the T. It is supposed to be a later kit, however.

I only have the pliers/screwdriver that my dad probably got out of one when he worked in a scrap yard.
I also have a couple ignition coils I should probably sell off.

^ Thanks. Yes, definitely aftermarket - NOT OEM. OEM was a single cylinder pump, from what I have been able to gather.
(I'm not going to pay for a membership to the site, so I can only get so much from the web.)

That head-bolt/spark plug wrench is as common as rocks - I see them at every junk store/antique shop I visit.

The screwdrivers for the T and up through the early 50's Ford tractors are rare and get good money if in very good condition. They had wooden handles and many did not survive the years.

I should clarify it's the pliers with one handle end being a flathead screwdriver.

They certainly aren’t like the wrenches but I have a tendency to look for them when I’m out.

Yep, the screwdrivers are the most rare, and the pliers with the screwdriver handle end are the next most rare.

T coils have the distinct advantage to run either off DC from the battery or AC from the flywheel magneto... KW was probably the major supplier of ignition parts for Ford, even when Ford started making his own mags, they still made up the lions share.
A T coil (there were 4 per car - one per cylinder) had 2 silver solder buttons on the back, and one on the bottom. Kinda cool contraptions the way they're designed...
