The Vintage Tool Discussion has may threads about various brands of tools but I haven’t seen a thread specifically about Powr-Kraft. I know there are those of you out there with some of these tools so now is your chance to show them. My particular collection is generally focused on hand tools. Wards had a bunch of manufacturers supplying the tools over the years including Wright, Barcalo, Duro/Indestro, Thorsen and others. Here are some of mine.

My affinity for POWR-KRAFT tools started when I picked up a top and bottom box from a yard sale. I just cleaned it up with some WD-40 and some steel wool and put it back to work. Twertsy helped out with the mid box a bit further down the road.

attachment.php

Since then, with some help, I've been working on filling it up.

Here's a small POWR-KRAFT ignition set:
attachment.php

And a similar Wards Master set, missing a few wrenches:
attachment.php

And a 'small' collection of POWR-KRAFT branded ratchets.

There's more to post, but that's all I have time for today. :3gears:

My 1966 powr-kraft generator. Runs excellent! 3 HP 9 cu. In. Briggs and Stratton flathead engine. Rated at 1500 watts. Bought it at a garage attic sale with big 10 gauge 220 s.o. cord for $15!!!! Cleaned carb and fuel tank and started right up. I did install a magnetron electronic ignition just for good measure. I sure do miss Montgomery Wards. I have fond memories of shopping there as a kid. My folks use to buy their rider mowers from there, among many other things. Cool post...

I have the same ignition set. Mine has a tad more rust.

Btw, nice ratchets. I have been trying to get a Powr-Kraft 1/4 ratchet made by Wright (or other label like Xcelite, and there are a few others. Fairmount rebranded Wright but I've only seen those in 1/2 And 3/8) to match my Wright 2400. I've noticed on the 1/4 the rebrands have a uniform diameter handle, but the Wright necks down then flares up at the grip. The larger ratchets seem to be basically identical.

The 4425 is nice, Wright discontinued that model at some point, well rather just started making the 4425 with a knurled handle instead of the Tootsie roll. I saw one of these on the bay that was stamped Curtiss Wright, I did a double take but the stamping was different than traditional Wright stamping, so the "most dad joke-like" award for relabeled irony went to that ratchet.

Browsing ebay, I stumbled across this (not mine):
https://m.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Powr...530489?hash=item25e0c0ef39:g:OjkAAOSwkzhZxtKW

Up til now I've only seen Wright and Thorsen made Powr Kraft ratchets. I guess we can add Duro/Indestro to that list. Not only that, this one is marked in an unusual way, in a circle about the selector (the only other round head ratchet I can think of that is marked similarly is the SK 45174 stubby 3/8).

Thanks Dave. I'm also still on the lookout for the 1/4" drive version. In my pic, the top 3 are 1/2" drive and the next 4 are 3/8".
The Duro ratchet makes some sense. I have seen Duro made sockets that are branded POWR-KRAFT, so it stands to reason that they made the drive tools as well. I haven't seen one in the wild yet. I think I have that Duro branded ratchet in 3/8" though.

I have a fairly nice selection of Powr Kraft tools, but I'll share this set I found today.

Ward's Powr Kraft 1/4" & 3/8" drive METRIC socket set, in the original box, with paper label! I gave $15 for the set.

We found two PowrKraft tools at an estate sale this morning. A long pry bar and a metric socket that looks to be sourced from Thorsen.

Not mine, but Here is an interesting Powr-Kraft 3/8 set on the bay...

Sockets are clearly Wright 10 point, in this instance called "Dual Purpose" sockets, 3/8" thru 1". Ratchet is a Powr-Kraft 100, looks like a Wright with starwheel selector, except the rubber grip isn't a Wright Tootsie roll...looks like the generic grip I've seen on some Proto and SK tools.

Price is a "tad" optimistic...

Picked this 1/4 set up Saturday20180513_091722.jpeg

Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

That’s nice. I haven’t found much 1/4” drive stuff yet.
I saw this axe at an estate sale yesterday. I’m always on the lookout for WW2 axes appropriate for my Jeep, but when I saw the markings on this one I had to have it even though the handle will need replacement.

Picked up this Powr-Kraft jointer a couple of months ago for $40 with original motor. Haven't done anything with it yet, but I think I'm going to before too long. Took me forever to find out it was Powr-Kraft since there was no markings on it. I searched and searched before I found another image online. Apparently the original badging was on the spring-loaded guide that has been replaced with one from a different model.

Sorry for the poor images!

I've have a Powr-Kraft 8 inch Table Saw since the 1960's I bought off of a friend for $35. It's mounted on an old typewriter table, with the sides that pop up if you need them. I mounted a trashcan underneath to catch the saw dust. Has the same old Powr-Kraft motor that works fine. I don't cut much heavy stuff with it, but when I do, just take it slow and don't press it, and it does the job.

I have bunch of Powr Kraft sockets and a ratchet laying around. Nothing too interesting except one of the sockets is an 8 point. I guess I am young enough that 8 point sockets just strike me as strange.

My very first tool that was all mine. Powr Kraft Japan pliers. My older brother gave them to me when I was about 7 years old. I used them to open up stubborn model paint bottles. Second pic isn't Powr Kraft, but its still in use today on my porch.

I found this two drawer Powr-Kraft toolbox at a garage sale in South Lake Tahoe yesterday. There was some stuff in it but nothing worthwhile. I cleaned it up but it’s never going to look new again.

I bought this Powr-Kraft belt-driven sander at a yard sale for $3, lol. I actually only wanted the stand and the motor. But here it is nonetheless:

I have officially crawled into the Ward's Powr Kraft rabbit hole since I just acquired my first official tool box yesterday.

This box and its contents came from a seller on OfferUp for a mere $20. I'm going to clean it up and use it to store my Ward's tools.

The contents of this box include an Indestro made 1/2" drive ratchet like the one shown in post 10 of this thread and a 1/4" drive socket set with Fleet ratchet added.

I found these three combination wrenches at a garage sale in Tahoe yesterday. They don’t really look Barcalo made. I’m thinking that they may have been sourced from Thorsen.
