Here is most of my S-K tool collection. The large box was purchased new in 1953 by a friend of mine who passed away late last year. I found a similar looking box in my 1936 Baker & Hamilton hardware catalog, with a P/N of 4000. Mine has a P/N of 4010R, and I have yet find an old 1950's S-K catalog so I can check the Inventory of it. Does Anyone have any old 50's-60's S-K Catalogs?

Thanks Guys! I have been Collecting S-K for about 10 years or so now, at yard sales, flea markets, etc., but the 4010 R set really boosted my collection! Now I just need to find what is missing from the original, and I will be a Happy Camper!

I have a SK catalog from 1940. This is the 4010 set from the catalog. The tool box is a little different, but the rest should be the same. $80 for the set in 1940.

I love old S-K tools. That is a beautiful collection you have there. I have bought a few old and rusted boxes and am going to restore, but don't know what the paint code would be. Any help?

Very nice set and toolbox you have there, lzenglish! I have to agree with CNGsaves, that is sweet. I have a similar S-K box but mine is not as mint as yours, more time-worn. And I got mine empty, but I had some tools to fill it. And it is still my favorite toolbox.

Here's an interesting little known factoid: SK tools made socket sets in the 30s (and 40s?) with the name Brazil on them The sockets are identical to "modern" SK sockets but say "chrome alloy" rather than "SK". I read that some of these same sets were left with no label on them so that local hardware stores could put their own label on. Excellent quality! Such sets with BRAZIL are EXTREMELY rare and if found in pieces people do not know what they are. Here is a really nice clean Brazil 1/4 drive socket set I found.

I knew they existed, but, have never held any Brazil sockets in my hand. There is no doubt to the S-K origin.

I wonder if HJEpstein can get ^ that set?

I have a lot of SK stuff but here is a pic of the three "vintagest". (Disregard the impacted one on the right.)

Hey guys, SK is another of my all time favorite brands. Can anyone show photos of the various different eras of SK sockets and ratchets for comparisons? I have a bunch of old stuff now but don't really know exactly what was from when. And then, which eras were better than others and why? Let's include other things SK made for other brands too, like JC Penney, Giller, Artisan, Craftsman, etc.! - Paul

These three other sockets came in the same set. The breaker bar and extension also say chrome alloy only. It was a set my grandpa had. The biggest socket in the set is a 1 3/4 craftsman so who nows. I know they are old and three of them are for sure sk.

I have the same big box as posted. It is PERFECT on the inside, but was trashed on the outside. I have all the hardware spotless now. Since the inside is perfect I want the outside to match well. I am going to practice on scrap. I am going to lay down VHT wrinkle finish as a basecoat in black. Then I have some Shermin Williams enamel I am going to spray on top of the VHT. I took one of the drawers into Shermin Williams and they matched the green spot on. And I mean dead on match.

Just bought a NOS SK 1/2 drive metric impact set off eBay...not sure what counts as vintage but it was packed in the original box from SK and the sockets were wrapped in a newspaper from 1994. Set even came with a rayovac flashlight with the SK logo, free gift with purchase I guess. Crazy part was the flashlight had the original 20+ year old batteries in it, just glad they had not leaked so flashlight is in good working order. Sockets are of course fine and have been freed from the cellophane which held them for the last two decades!

Tell us the Sherwin Willilams paint code you end up with on the match so we can duplicate without sorting it out ourselves. Should be 3 numbers for the red/yellow/blue portions. thx! - Paul

My dad brought me grandpa's old 3/8 socket set. Does anybody know what the item number of this set should be or know of a list of what items should be included? I would like to track down replacements for the missing items.

This set is 6 point but should give you an idea what was in the sets. The plug socket is 5/8". Sockets are 3/8" to 3/4". This was a $20. auction find.
