The Churchill name was used on machinery both made in Britain, and imported to Britain, by separate companies.
Later on one of those entities started making hand tools.
One of the Churchill brands wound up owned by Birmingham Small Arms Company.
Churchill was involved in the manufacture of everything from large machinery to Firearms.
One of the later uses of the Churchill name was “Matrix Churchill” which supplied arms parts to Iraq under Saddam Hussein.
I know Churchill tools have been posted before, but don’t know the exact history of the small tools, and who and why they were produced, and for what market, if the tools were even just produced by just one of the entities.

The 18G part number indicates that it was a tool for BMC vehicles.

I can't find anything for 18G699 and I don't recognise it either.

The current Churchill website and business registered under that name has no link to the original company. The owner simply realised he could use the name and make some of the old tooling that Churchill made.

The exact function of the 18G 699 tool isn't confirmed by the search results. However, one seller suggests it may be a seal removal/installation tool that works with collets to hold a shaft.

I like the thinking but it

Churchill as in the machine manufacturer made what most people would refer to as "standard" garage tools, conventional spanners etc, whereas VL Churchill made and still do make special service tools, they are bespoke for certain tasks to be completed on various vehicles and mechanical devices, such as Rover, including JLR, Massey Ferguson, DB, RR, Ford, Lada, Perkins engines, Chrysler, Borg Warner, etc etc in cars, vans, trucks, tractors and stand alone powerplants that could be used in boats, generators, pumps etc...

Do you have old Churchill documents for equipment such as their wheel balancers?
Hi, Not sure at the moment, as I have been going through 2 very large pallets of drawings and only just scraped the surface of the first one, it's going to be a long job but very interesting, at the moment I do not have anything on wheel balancers, however I have a few document's that suggest they where made by another company, try Crypton diagnostics in the UK

Also have a couple of VLC spanners I swear were made by Britool.
This may be for Ford. CT9044.

Thanks.
Yes Earlier spanners, the proper looking chrome spanners where made by Churchill (not the VL side it was linked by family and other businesses, Then Britool them and then they reduced the cost by fabricating them, which due to the quantity is the way I have tended to keep it,

CT9044 is an injector spanner for 1-1/2 / 3 ton trader & 4 / 7-1/2 trader 5/8 AF

CT part numbers are Ford fuel systems

I am thinking of the 1950s/60s on-car type but any type or brand interests me. Not something Crypton made as far as I'm aware. It is basically impossible to find any information for Crypton products.

Something I've seen before is someone get mixed up between VL Churchill and VLC (V. Lowener Company). Both of them made wheel aligners.

VL Churchill sold and ran training for Allen testproducts products. If you come across anything about Allen products, I am very interested. Allen (an American company) even setup a factory in the UK.

Torsion bar adjustment tool? I was looking at a Jag XKE and it had torsion bar front suspension with splines that looked like that.
