So after 8 years at the current house we've moved to a new place with a much better view, closer to work and a much nicer home - one kink, the attached 19x19 is not going to replace the 30x40 shop and 14x22 attached garage i left behind so were going to build a 36x40 shop with scissor trusses and 10ft walls with 6x40 of that being a separate section for storage that will remain unfinished.

the plans are for the following:
- 10ft outer walls with scissor trusses, 6/12 pitch.
- 1 Man door to the right of the main garage door
- 1 16x10 door centered over the 30ft main garage wall
- 1 4x6.5 roll up door for the storage area
- siding and roofing to match the house
- Mini Split heat pump for heat and A/C with electric backup
- LED Lighting (Lithonia CLX series linear strips)
- 200A entrance separate from the house
- large number of 20A outlets and approx. 6 x 240v outlets for welders, plasma cutters, compressor, etc.
- Plywood inside walls, painted combo of white and light grey
- All new benches, shelving and cabinets

The garage is going here on the lot:

Today they are building a berm along the back to keep the snow melt and water off the back of the shop.

more progress from Friday. Sadly I'm travelling to Newfoundland tomorrow and I'm only back Wednesday so i won't be able to see the roofing and siding getting done.

that 16 x 10 door really screws with the sense of scale.

I love this build. I've never been a big fan of overhead lofts or attics for storage, because I find them to be inconvenient and cumbersome. Your solution for this really appeals to me in a big way. Kudos for a great workshop design.

The guys have been hard at work with insulating and now starting to put up the plywood. Excuse the photos, there’s only 1 fixture being used to light up the whole space currently so it’s not overly bright.

Walls a ceiling look great! Looks like you used sanded, stain quality plywood. I used standard 3/4” plywood and mine has odd grain patterns and knots. Your’s looks furniture quality, very nice!

yes, i had a 30x40 shop along with a single bay at the house, now i've got the 30x40 + a 6x40 storage room and also a double attached so i'll gain some storage room and the ability to be able to store my truck indoors (until i buy another toy....)

Yes. My last house had a 2 car attached garage and I built a 20’x20’ detached. Our current house I wasn’t messing around - had the 40’x60’ with lean-tos built.
