Hey guys, We've seen a new trend the last week. On two different occasions, we've had accounts compromised, ads posted, and (on one occasion) money stolen.

How is this happening?
It appears as if passwords have been collected outside of garagejournal.com through a data breach. It could have been any number of data breaches throughout the world in the past decade... but one where email addresses and passwords were leaked.

The bastards then go around the internet testing their stolen credentials until they find a forum with access. Once done, they list items for sale in the classifieds and take your money.

What do you need to do?
Two things... First, change your password and follow these simple rules when doing so. And secondly, when buying online only use PayPal (not PayPal friends and family) to protect yourself against scammers.

I should note, garagejournal.com has not been breached at all. As mentioned above, these login credentials were gathered elsewhere.
