Euco Diamond Hard for shop floor?

Hey All -

I was talking to a friend of mine that is the VP for a concrete sealants and restoration company the other day, and I had mentioned that I wanted to do SOMETHING to my 30x40 shop floor, but didn't want to spend the money on epoxy, he suggested Euco Diamond Hard.

I did a quick search here and only found one result - so I wanted to see who's used it before and what did they think?

I'm not too overly concerned about the appearance of my floor, sure expoy would be cool, but really I just want to protect it a bit and make it easier to sweep up. This is primarily a wood shop / project shop and isn't going to be used for anything automotive, so limited oils and other fluids to worry about.

Has anyone else really used it? Is there much to do prep-wise before putting it down? Any major drawbacks?

Thank you!

I'm genuinely surprised, this is the first time I posted something, and someone with experience hasn't chimed in haha.

Not great help, but I swear I have seen this applied in warehouses around me. I haven't actually seen it going down but I have seen the buckets on the jobsite. We usually show up just after the floors get sealed. It seems to dry really fast though, they are usually telling us we can get on it just hours after sealed.

Ok, good info, thank you!

We've used Euco Diamond Hard a number of times over the years including most of our own industrial slabs with good results. I can't really speak for the densifying qualities but it does result in a nice mat finish sheen and improves stain resistance and clean up. It requires a specific application procedure that is more involved than just rolling it on and walking away. You need to apply ample product and keep it wet for a period of time to allow penetration and then remove the excess.

You'll definitely want to divide the floor into manageable sections and protect adjacent areas. If you track it around, it will make a mess that's about impossible to remove. It's a penetrating product but it will build up on the surface and show 'runs' if not applied evenly and removed completely. It's a DIY job if you read the instructions, do small sections and take your time.

Great info! my slab is 30x40, and I'm already going to have to do at least half at a time to shuffle things out of the way. Is there any more prep involved that just sweeping it up? Do you need to mop it or anything? Assuming it has to be VERY dry to apply?

Thanks!

You'll want to get the floor as clean as possible to aid penetration and not seal in dirt. I'd vacuum it at a minimum or give it a quick mop or power wash. The floor has to be fully cured but I don't recall whether it's sensitive to moisture. I seem to recall that we've washed a floor or two prior to application. You should probably consult the instructions.
