The life of old wood working tools

I was working on a Mothers Day present for my GF yesterday and was using a router that had been my MILs hubands. He was a depression era child and WWII vet. He saved and reused EVERYTHING.
It made me think about the life this router had lived. The base modification has left it as a single use tool but that's ok with me as I have a half dozen routers.
